Oh, and how about msg6_24="Uggh will kill the slims!" ? What does that mean?
Sorry, you shouldn't really be making this translation, but I really need a short explanation of these two things...

Got the meaning of the second one...

Okay, I think I understood the second sentence, I mentioned, but still, the word "revenant" confuses me...

"One who returns after a long absence" (or after death)

Danish translation complete

Post by skovbaer »

Finally... I've finished the Danish translation... It took the whole day to
translate the whole thing what with all the story-text and people's lines...
But when I run the game with danish.cfg, there are quite a bit of dialog boxes,
that won't show up... Anyway, grab the cfg here:

http://www.femgramskovbaerte.dk/test/danish.cfg

And Dave, I hope u can figure out the problem with the cfg...

Looks great!

I will look at why the dialog boxes aren't showing up when I get home from work.

I'm planning on developing a system so that when new versions are released, it'll create a new danish.cfg that has all new messages introduced in that version at the top of the file in English, and all already-translated strings below in Danish. That way it should be easy to update for new versions.

I have made a patch available: http://wesnoth.whitevine.net/files/translation.patch

This will make all the dialogs show up properly in the Danish translation.

Thanks for your work skovbaer!

I have noticed that I didn't include the scenario objectives in the sample translation. There have also been some strings added since the previous version.

At http://wesnoth.whitevine.net/files/danish.cfg you will find your Danish translation, but with new English strings that have been added at the top of the file. I have developed a tool which easily generates such a file given the current sample_translation.cfg file and a translation file. So, keeping translations up-to-date will hopefully be relatively easy.

Similiarly I have put such a version of the French translation at http://wesnoth.whitevine.net/files/french.cfg

Yeah, and they're good translations as well...
Anyway, I found a couple of issues... Some of the translations are still in English in-game... Here are those I've noticed:

"Unit resistance table" - not present in danish.cfg
"blade", "cold", "fire", "holy", "impact" and "pierce" - from the resistance table
"quick", "intelligent", "resilient" and so on... - not present in danish.cfg
"No description available" - also missing from danish.cfg
And last, but not least, the objectives in the training scenario is also missing from danish.cfg...

Excellent.

Just a general question....would we ever want to customize the names of characters in the game?

No, we wouldn't want that...
