Re: [Request] Shuffle sides icon
I tried to come up with something that would indicate shuffling sides even if you hadn't heard of the concept. Failed pretty badly, though.
What about something like this?

(And why do things always look better before I upload them? Anyway, it's just a concept)

Re: [Request] Shuffle sides icon
There are a lot of good iconizations of "shuffle" in this thread, but no good ones for sides; There's red and blue, but I thought a pair of crossed flags does a much better job of representing "sides" than just about anything else presented thus far.
I'm sure someone can complain about it being difficult to read as flags, but darn near anything would be at this tiny 16x16 size.
So here's a copy with and without the ? I used to represent shuffle. Arrows might work fine, and if anyone wants to nudge the flags around for readability, go ahead.

Tried some alternate spacing, not sure if it's better. Did it mostly because I found I also needed a demo on a dark bg to be readable:

Thanks, Jetrel
But IANAA, so feel free to pick whichever you want.

Tiny people outlines also speak "sides" or "players" to me... (Which is quite the same in this case)Jetrel wrote:There are a lot of good iconizations of "shuffle" in this thread, but no good ones for sides; There's red and blue, but I thought a pair of crossed flags does a much better job of representing "sides" than just about anything else presented thus far.
True, I found the cut out flag edges quite confusing. But if I had to pick, I'd choose third version - it's less cramped and I think the question mark contributes to readability of the icon.Jetrel wrote:I'm sure someone can complain about it being difficult to read as flags, but darn near anything would be at this tiny 16x16 size.

Re: [Request] Shuffle sides icon
The question mark makes the flags much harder to recognise.
Hmm... I attempted to make it look less cut off, but I don't think I really succeeded:

EDIT: Hmm, a bit rounder (I don't know how you managed to fit them in at this scale to begin with):

Re: [Request] Shuffle sides icon
How about using one flag with two colors? If there is a hovering effect possible the colors could swap when mouse is rolled over.
(sorry for the smudgy samples)

Re: [Request] Shuffle sides icon
I think that Jet's idea makes more sense conceptually, but the cut-off edges look kind of turns me off. Especially with the question mark thrown in there, then the icon becomes pretty much unreadable for me. Sfault's idea is visually clearer, but IMO it's more conceptually vague than Jetrel's.
