Is the hair going to go in the same sort of flow as the cloak and sash?

Actually, that was thus far a deliberate choice - gusts of wind don't always hit the whole body. In this picture, I thought it would be more interesting to leave much of his hair hanging down. Wind, like light, is not necessarily a global effect. This type of stuff is used all the time in that Burne Hogarth book I've been reading.

Who knows - I might add in some strands being pulled by the wind to the left of his head... the litmus test is really "does it look good". I haven't tried it yet, so I don't know.

just keep in mind that I *did* think about that when I drew it.

The face looks more natural but the good think on the old one was that the face got a more angular look actual not really realistic but it gave him a quite male view. Many western comics used this kind of caricature that looked like the chins had been chiseled out of a rock but at least they had a distinctive face. I think it will be quite difficult to combine a realistic with a distinctive look.

Actual yes but they shouldn't be more female than male looking like some authors and artists in other games and or books display them.

Several eye studies pay off.

Kalenz now has the honor of a perspective-correct face. Flip it horizontally - it still works. Still need to do some nip and tuck here and there, make the hair flow better, but the core of the head works, now.

I am in a dark mood indeed. Some muse is going to pay for the time I've ____ed into this drawing, and the embarrassment it's caused.

(BTW — Don't expect anything done on this image untill the weekend, if that - school is hitting hard, now.)

This face looks VERY good.

Elvish and intimidating.

IMO, the eyes are too creepy for an elf.

This is the 'general' expression for kalenz - the one appropriate for the vast majority of his in-game dialogue, and the one to be used on his full-size portrait. I'd make him haughty and carrying a slight smirk of self-confidence, but that's really been overdone with smarmy male animé characters. (I mean REALLY been overdone...)

Once I have decent singular portraits of the main characters, I'll be expanding into making emotive "bust" images, which should be a lot easier to make. These will be vaguely reminiscent of those from Bungie's game Oni - also, they may wont for a reduced image size (who knows...)

Ironically, Kalenz's first bit of dialogue would call for such a portrait - in that one he is considerably less on edge than he typically is - generally, his dialogue in scenarios is alerting Konrad/Delfador to danger (ref: Northern Winter, Ford of Abez).

Also, it should look considerably less harsh when the line art is not black. Black line art is difficult to do subtle skin wrinkles, often components of facial expression, with.

REALLY GOOD  --I envy artists better than me

I'm not sure if I could do better, but his left arm (one closest to the screen) seems a bit off, and doesn't match texture-wise with the other arm, and should not part of the thumb be visible.

Also, with his lower torso, is he wearing a decorated tunic under the breastplate? If so, shouldn't you be able to see that cloth where the strap goes across on the other side?

Nothing major--and I'm also probably wrong in my assessment, but still a really good job

this goes for they're/their/there as well
