The Wyverling
This is an idea for a unit that exists since the Dunefolk rework.
Wyverling is a form of wyvern hatched from an egg that wasn't taken care of. These are small creatures resembling a wyvern that came to be in order to ensure survival of the race when it faced extinction. Right now there are plenty of packs of wyverlings running around territories of apex wyverns ensuring safety of females, hunting and informing the lord of lands of any unwelcome guests that they can't deal with alone. Their adaptability to the environment is also high, which in the past was a necessary component of everyday survival ~~however right now it is something that just lets us create our own eevee~~.
Except for apex wyverns they ended up being tamed by humans, similarly to usual wyverns, in their hands they serve as livestock guardians, tools of war and simple companions.
Wyverlings can also lay eggs, however only wyverlings will be hatched from them but that's not a problem since properly taken care of wyverling can grow up to be full fledged wyvern, that however very rarely happens and they usually end up smaller than their regular counterparts.
From gameplay perspective they are flying units with probably like 50% dodge, however also nice defence bonuses on good terrain, they have pretty accurate attacks, they can spew bile or bite the enemies, however if they can help it they would rather not confront the enemy directly, since their combat power isn't outstanding, at least alone and their best tools are better suited for harassment.

Re: The Wyverling
Having a bit of a "wyverling-faction" would be nice. I remember years ago a neat add-on with riders (or heroes) on a wyverling.
Granted, the wyverling were very strong, but I liked them still. A faction based around it may be nice, e. g. barbarians + wyverns
or something like that, and mountable trained wyverns too. One thing that should be considered is that high hp is already a
pretty good advantage, so the attack should perhaps not also include spit-attacks (like bile or acid or so); guess talons and
claws, and bite, should suffice. Or perhaps have some progression path - not sure how well that would be appreciated by
the wesnoth devs, but I like unique paths one can choose for upgrading units in general. (Guess it is not trivial to balance
though.)
