Re: Zombies:Introduction campaign - 7 scenarios in one map

How about renaming the campaign to "Zombies: Introduction"? It is Zombies:Introduction, is not it? I think I am going to continue this campaign so I will have to rename it. The second scenario is using very original tactical mechanics and it can be used further. I need some good way for Radna to ge...

Re: Alternative campaign's mechanics approach

It would be easy to implement this as a mod and put it up for playtesting. Cool, that would be great. Just another issue. The question is when you let the player to recruit higher level units. Because for now a player can recruit only lvl1 units through the whole campaign (in mainline campaigns I m...

Re: Alternative campaign's mechanics approach

Today I am necroposting my own thread. Almost three years passed after the previous discussion but the problems I mentioned here about Wesnoth campaign mechanics are still the same. However I get new thoughts so I add it here. The reason I write is simple: current recall and level up system of Wesno...

Re: BfW is a game that relies on save-scumming too much

Some of us don't care about copetetive play and find no enjoyment in their heroes and loyals hiding in the map corner. What's the point of even having such a hero unit? The player can just as well be a disembodied invisible commander from most RTS games. I suggest your problem is that you think tha...

Re: BfW is a game that relies on save-scumming too much

I repeat, AI must never recruit lvl2, and lvl3 units,...this feature must be reserved for autorecalled loyal units...So better to admit the fact that the player likes to cherish and give him many loyal units to advance...Oh, that would be a pure RNG and not about village controlling. You are descri...

Re: BfW is a game that relies on save-scumming too much

It's really bad when you lose loyal units or heroes that way. Well, there's your problem. Apparently, you are putting your important units in positions where they can die. I've noticed that some campaigns tend to force the player to rely on loyal/hero units too much. (Usually UMC; mainline campaign...

Re: BfW is a game that relies on save-scumming too much

Heh. Every multiplayer player knows that you should never put your leader in the situation in which he/she even theoretically can be killed. Same about heroes and loyal units in campaigns. One should learn to play the game first. Playing campaigns and playing multiplayer are two different realities,...

Re: A Whim of Fate [SP Campaign]

Hi, Thanks a lot for the file, it helped ! I did the right way, but really thought it was over after teleporting from ice to desert, why I thought there was some bug. I just did not realize a new village appeared on top right. I indeed missed to look on the corner. I am going on the scenario now. I...

Re: A Whim of Fate [SP Campaign]

Hello, I write you here about "Pocket collapse". The scenario sounds rather easy to solve, but it seems I have some bug that avoids me to pass this "labyrinth". When I follow the advice to teleport from ice to desert while having a castle, nothing happens. Any idea where comes the problem, please ?...

Re: BfW is a game that relies on save-scumming too much

There are two types of reloads. One is of that kind: you missed to kill a enemy unit because, for example, a mage failed to finish a badly wounded unit by missing three times in a row. Some players often became angry about it and will reload. But in fact such things must happen sometimes. All multip...

Re: BfW is a game that relies on save-scumming too much

It is obvious that it is nothing about RNG. Many players prefer to use save-scumming instead of thinking and inventing effective tactics. My son often plays this way because he is just not patient enough to play carefully and knowingly. Many players have no idea that save-scumming is bad because in ...

Re: BfW is a game that relies on save-scumming too much

For the wesnoth player since 2008, his post looks like not less than a trolling. Really it took 10+ years to come to such a conclusion?
I think that every campaign creator must show his replays of his campaign playing on hardest difficulty. So there would be no doubts if the campaign is balanced.

Re: Era of Magic (EoMa) 3.2

Hi, inferno8! As you remember, I am using your Destroyers faction in my campaign, in Chapter III of it. Also I am using level4 units as enemy leaders there. Mostly Abbaddons are good to be leaders because they are very hard to be killed because of high resistances. I do not use special things like a...

Re: A Whim of Fate [SP Campaign]

Here is the replay how I played Stacking Bones scenario and it shows how it should to be played as I designed. In general I totally defeated the enemy but after 23 turns it seems I failed to kill enemy leaders in 30 turns bacause Abaddons are really very hard to kill. My decision to change enemy lea...

Re: A Whim of Fate [SP Campaign]

And about the next scenario, what do you mean "it was failed"? I can't win it. As before, I lead my main forces against skulls, and make attempt to quickly finish fish leader by mages and gryphons. Previous experience showed that shamans especially efficient against skulls, so my plan was to destro...
