Re: And idea of generic tutorial campaign

Would the "evil lich" part of the scenario really fit if the player plays undeads ? I think your idea of a treasure guarded by a Skeletal Dragon cover better this case. Anyway it could be nice but this means you have to find a way to have a different set of dialog for each race. There is a problem ...

Re: Removing mainline campaign(s)

I could in theory finish the HttT arc in a few months if motivated to do so (not counting the HttT rework). That is great! I think that is quite a generous suggestion actually and should be accepted given nemaraa ovbiously have some talents in creating stories. I suggest to give carte blanche to ne...

Re: And idea of generic tutorial campaign

The first couple campaigns in the first arc of the reworked single player story were stated to be Novice level campaigns, so I don't think it's accurate to say that there'd be a lack of beginner campaigns. If the campaign demands playing two races at the same time - elves/humans in reworked TSG and...

An idea of generic tutorial campaign

Since after many years of ossification I see that Wesnoth became more open to changes in mainline content, several problems arise. I mean Wesnoth mainline content is like a badly constructed house. You need a new good house, but you cannot get it instantly so you can not get rid of all bad things im...

BTW, there's a typo in the thread title. This thread should show up when searching the forums for An Orcish Incursion.

Re: An Orcish Incrusion: some questions and ideas

In timeline it says nothing about merfolk until year 626. Maybe instead of controlling orcs the player could control merfolk, and the merfolk and the elves both attack Rualsha in the last scenario, thus making an alliance. This could interlude with events of LoW, since merfolk should come to aid th...

Re: A grand design for singleplayer mainline lore

So, no one kidnapped Mebrin, he left himself? That is an interesting idea but will make useless all that battles with bandit brothers that supposedly kidnapped him. Actually that can be good partly, because I found nothing funny when you fight with the first brother and kill him, then the same with ...

Re: A grand design for singleplayer mainline lore

I really like nemaara's plan. At least we will see not blatantly evil Asheviere but some motives under her actions. Such things should have been done 10 years ago. Still I think that adding young Garard to TSG will not save this campaign's plotline. What it's storyline is about? Some bad guys kidnap...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Base Units

I see new images in the database. http://units.wesnoth.org/1.15/mainline/en_US/mainline.html#Dunefolk In addition to mentioned above, Swordmaster, Blademaster and Paragon are also reworked (they are clear samurais now). Which I really like because I do not like that 'fat with thin legs' Zerovisus's ...

Re: An Orcish Incrusion: some questions and ideas

If the player keeps switching sides, how does the progress of one side affect the other side? Will doing well in the orc scenarios make the elf scenarios harder? Nope. There is no need in it. In fact it would be 2 different campaigns just interwoven by scenarios order and united by the same storyli...

Re: An Orcish Incrusion: some questions and ideas

Actually that tower could be build by elves or dwarves in some ancient times so that is the explanation. And about the lich, that of course it shoudn't be that they accidentally met that lich in the swamp. Possibly Linaera had some issues with that lich and asked elves to help her against the lich f...

Re: An Orcish Incrusion: some questions and ideas

Heh, yes, merfolk, I just was thinking about them. Good they are near. I was thinking that the first scenario of this campaign should be on the orcish side with orcs attacking woses and someone else. That someone else could be merfolk. So orcs (possibly with nagas help) killed woses and merfolk (liv...

An Orcish Incursion: some questions and ideas

I want to discuss some issues about An Orcish Incrusion here. The campaign represents "the first direct elvish clash with orcs" so this probably important to save this moment of Wesnoth history and not to demainline it but rather rework it. The campaign has almost no storyline, the only plot line in...

Re: A grand design for singleplayer mainline lore

I hope that despite a desire to save as much mainlaine content as possible you all understand that something must be done. I really wonder why this question arose so late, after 15+ years of the game exists. Wesnoth as 'the setting' is a very pathetic product. Is not that obvious? A set of of barely...

Re: A grand design for singleplayer mainline lore

Northern Rebirth has a good storyline in the beginning but in later stages it is a total fault. I would really prefer that instead of current branch a hidden one would be put into the light where the main hero got under control of the lich and became a lich himself but was able to reborn back. Um… ...
