Re: Wesnoth 1.9.4
Custom attack ranges and types can now be translated. To do this for range "artillery" and damage type "explosive", add a top-level [+language] tag to your UMC as follows: Wait, does this mean ranged units can actually attack from multiple hexes away, and/or there will be splash...

Re: How to decide which add-ons to try?
Thanks Gambit, I was going to ask you to close this thread as I was pointed to the other one after the fact, but if this one still serves a purpose then it's up to you...

Re: How to decide which add-ons to try?
I tried to go rate something on there once, but I couldn't figure how to register/find where put a rating/etc for the life of me. It's really unintuitive... :/ While he has a great idea there (and he obviously put a bit of effort into it!), I agree about the unintuitive layout. It would be nice to ...

Re: How to decide which add-ons to try?
The layout is clunky to me, and there doesn't seem to be much feedback based on a quick scan, but I appreciate the effort he put into it.Hulavuta wrote:http://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?t=29569
Everybody forgot norbert already? (The site could use a little more activity, but it's an option.)

Re: [interface] New Filtrer to find Add ons
Rating systems work. They have worked for many games with add-on content. Could you provide examples? A google search for "rating system for add-ons" quickly turned up this thread, a similar one for mozilla, and some other mostly irrelevant stuff. EDIT: Oh, answered in a parallel thread. ...

Re: How to decide which add-ons to try?
That's something that might be useful, could you provide any links for reference perhaps? Some methodology could perhaps be of use here Well, some well known ones: Neverwinter Nights series: http://nwvault.ign.com/ The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=...

Re: [interface] New Filtrer to find Add ons
How about a link on the frontpage to a list of avalible addons with wiki reviews availiable? A makeshift solution, but it seems we're gaining pressure on it and not comming up with any serious solution. I can volunteer to write some reviews (though I don't like giving points) if someone might consi...

Re: How to decide which add-ons to try?
Hmm the system lacking? Do you mean anything else than reviews? Please share, maybe we can fill the gap Well honestly, as many have pointed out, having tons of UMCs with nothing to judge them by (besides number of times DLed) is not efficient for the large number of people with limited time. This i...

Re: [interface] New Filtrer to find Add ons
I have to add that with an open source game that will rely heavily on user-made content, giving the many casuals (like me) who don't follow development threads 24/7 a way to quickly determine which UMCs they want to play is extremely important. Many of you are here quite often, and are more knowledg...

Re: How to decide which add-ons to try?
So what I understand Campaign and MP, but what is Era for? Is it like sandbox? And I have to say, in a game that relies heavily on add-ons, the present system is sorely lacking.

Re: How to decide which add-ons to try?
Looks like not all great ideas (because these rating systems work amazingly well for other games) will be implemented.
Thank you kindly for the info!

How to decide which add-ons to try?
Is there a way to either place a star rating system in the add-on search in the game itself, or a rating for them on this forum so that we can decide which to try first and so forth? The short in-game descriptions are a small help, but they don't help with content quality checks. Edit: For example I...

Mage of Light radius question
So if a chaos mob is attacking a unit that is in my Mage of Light's radius at night, does the attacking chaotic mob lose its bonus, or does it have to be in the radius itself? If not, it makes using/positioning the mage a bit harder.

Re: WHy are the recall unit xp numbers different colors?
Hmmm, that's what I would have thought, but as an example I have 2 units that show dark blue, 1 is a level 1 with 2 xp (not close to leveling), and the other is a level 2 with about 10 more to level. One of those makes sense, not the other... Edit: I also have some units within 12 points of leveling...
