Thnx all for the infos. The only problem for me is that I need to compile again (ubuntu) First I compiled 1.8 coz it wasn't in ubutnu 9.10 repos. Then after few weeks 10.04 came out with 1.8 in it and a delete my compiled version to install again from repository. Now (after few weeks again) I need t...

All those reasons are valid but for me that what makes wesnoth shine is its GAMEPLAY
Another feature I think is important for this kind of games is the balance (at least between main factions)

To be honest these days I have no time for games of the like but I like ASCIIs (done some Angband-TOME last year)
And I think that any Free program must have a GNU/Linux version

1. I find the lobby in 1.6 a bit more easy to the eye. Version 1.8.1: * User interface: * Added a preference for switching between the old and new lobby in the preferences dialog in the "Multiplayer" tab. Defaults to the old lobby. wow! I didn't noticed this till now... Thnx a lot Max :D
