So it turns out that there was another file on the download que that I hadn't noticed for a few days. And so I downloaded and installed it and Wesnoth works just fine.

I have recently tried downloading Wesnoth to a macbook. I downloaded the macosx file and when I went to open up the file this error message popped up. I am very new to macs and I was thinking that I might have downloaded it wrong if it was at all possible to do that.
