Have you considered integrating the theory of adaptive-logic? These survival maps [and others] can be programmed in such a way that the quantity, strength and types of waves are adaptive based on how well the player is doing. In this way, the game can always remain challenging no mater what your ski...

haha, what a funny thread! I don't think anyone/many realized the complete irony of the first 3 to 6 pages... If you are going to keep this concept, personally I think the thread should be killed and remade so that everyone doesn't need to read through pages and pages of the pre [off topic] debate, ...

1v1 map: Double trouble: Asymetrical 40x40 map
Hello folks, Below you will find my latest map: Double Trouble. This map was initially generated as a random map, the 1st game I had on this map was epic - the best game I've played so far! Very tense, very close, different fronts had different types of battles, full blown frontal assaults over 1 vi...

Yup, replacing the archers and HI with way more spear-men has done the trick and balanced out my matches against rebels far better than it was before; also helps for supporting the early cavalry-dance since the spear men are such good counters to the elvish cavalry, so I'm content now. thanks guys! ...

But i like random maps :) They are bigger than the standard accepted 1v1 maps, and I like breathing space; makes for a far more interesting game IMHO - and I have gotten to the point where symmetrical maps are driving me loony. Just can't play on symmetrical maps at the moment! hehe... And besides, ...

hmmm so more spear men from what i gather... take the brunt at night [without archers to counter] and then pound more during the day? My idea to use archers was to give some resistance to counters/defense. As for which map, I'm referring to any match played on the standard random maps - or maps of t...

Since this is a loyalist cavalry thread... ;) I have a question about loyalist vs. rebels. When ever I try this match, the elves seem to dominate the early game because the loyalist horsemen/cav are vulnerable to pierce and nearly all the elves just over-flow with piercing bow strings. This makes it...

change log: 1. added terrain near key exterior villages 2. added more fords near key areas to permit remobilization of defenses [play testing change] 3. improved player 1's village placement since prior maps were found to give P2 too much of an advantage. [map] border_size=1 usage=map Gg , Gg , Gg ,...

Hiya, thanks for the comment. the low density of terrain was on purpose, my idea was to make it so that the further you are to a flank, the less cover you have... so this is currently by-design. Now it could be, for what ever reason, that this doesn't work because it gives one faction more of an adv...

Hidden faction
Simple suggestion, which may or may not appeal. But instead of people picking 'random' so that you don't know who you are up against, you could also have a check box at game creation which simply says "hide factions" and then you cant see what people are picking. Advantage: 1. still get su...

so far I've found no issues with rebels, northerners or loyalists. undead also seem to do well and their skelies have a big huge pool to submerge in! , knag-alliance works fine as P2 and I need to test them now if they are on P1 side. Drakes still not tested properly. I've tried the game out also ag...

after some initial play testing i found that if player 1 picked a race with cavalry that they could form 3+ of them into a mob and get quite an early advantage. to counter this i've altered many spaces on the map and reduced fords on P2's side of the board. i also grouped p2's villages all on their ...

Actually movement is not a good example because a +1move is far more useful to a move 4 unit than a unit which already moves 8. I know a few dwarvish players who jump for joy every time one of their dwarves get's the +1move trait... as do I if a create a goblin at 5 move... ;) This is not to say tho...
