Re: Why do people quit playing?

Now, to be honest... If you call Wesnoth's RNG as bad, then I urge whoever agrees with that to give a try playing MegaMek, an online javascript game made to emulate an old tabletop board game called battletech, and FEEL for yourself just how bad can luck be at times. Now that I think again, maybe th...

Re: Why do people quit playing?

Unlike what seems to be the majority of people here, My previous strategy game experience before trying wesnoth out is mostly limited to console SRPGs, most of which are turn-based. (I do play starcraft and warcraft occasionally, but at best I'm only average at them). The first thing that strikes me...

Looks excellent, only problem I would say really noticeable is the size though... As it is, it's rather BIG for what it is supposed to be.

Judging from combat-value alone, the poacher is not that good. However, they have a strategic value I really appreciate, especially considering the faction they are used in: The Knalgan alliance. They serve VERY well to hold important forest or Swamp hexes, even moreso if you're fighting against tre...

*grin* *Snicker* *Chuckle* Really sorry. Can't help myself there... It's just that the Eagle warrior... looks so much like a parrot . Anyway, I'd suggest making him look more predator-y, reducing the beak size and making it look sharper would be a good idea. Also, that green crest on the...

I thought our policy here in Wesnoth is to play it extra-safe when it comes to things that can cause copyright issues?

*sigh* Thunderers aren't the only problem. My problem is that with that damage upgrade the poacher suddenly becomes THE most cost-efficient archer around. Let's do a little comparison with the rest of the archer-types, shall we? A Poacher's base statistics: HP: 32 Cost: 14 Moves: 5 Alignment: chaoti...

Shadow: Sweet-looking sketch. I'd like to see that sprite-ified, although I too wonder how it'll look like in sprite-form. 8) Another little comparison between our good ol' Flagbearer & Pikeman lines: Pikeman has 10 Extra HP, which is more than negated by the combination of good resists + Steadf...

6-3 wouldnt be more damage then thunderers 18-1 So you're suggesting that a 14 gp unit is to have EQUAL offense with a 17 gp unit then? And that's at dusk/dawn. At night those buggers would do 7-3. MORE than the thunderer's 18-1. They already do 5-4 at night right now. That's already more than what...

Re: Unit Change Ideas

Knalgan Alliance Poacher ranged 6-3 or 5-4 from 4-4 makes poachers at night be able to take advantage of drakes -10% piercing resistance. currently a 4-4 poacher is unaffected by drakes piercing I feel it would make the Poacher too strong compared to the Thunderer... the poacher still has less hps,...

Yeah, Flagbearer Vs Pikeman is probably one of my main beef, since one is a good bit more useful than the other. The only good use I found so far for the pikeman is to act as a threat if the enemy army happens to be a bit cavalry-heavy, or if they're drakes. A 17-2 or 24-2 is darned nasty when you h...

Just in case, here is how I view the aragwaithi. If I happen to be off the mark , someone who has a better idea about them (like one of their makers) please let me know. Going alphabetically: Aragwaith Archer: Fragile as heck at 25 HP, but the offense is more than crazy enough to justify the 15 gp c...

Here some changes/possible changes i plan for the next release : Aragwaithi: - (perhaps) Increase the Flagbearer movement to 5 to make it more useful ? Chaos: - decrease the crabs melee by 1 damage pt. Loyalists: - (perharps in a separate version of the era) remove the two extra mermens from the re...

Well it was just a observation and I'm a mediocre player but I still know how to play them at least I helped creating them. I know that I must use the speed atvantage to grab most of the Villages which works in the opening but later it gets harder because their shieldbearer can block some key villa...

Good point on that Steppe Orc/Drake matchup, the Orcs kinda lacking in pierce and only having an expensive (and not too powerful at 4-4) cold user, plus their weakness to fire...
