Shading-wise, bottom is better (Though maybe you could still use a little bit of a highlight on the left arm? Up to you), but size-wise, I think I prefer the top (Slightly thinner wrist there)--Though, as Turuk said, it's so close that either way is fine.
That said, the deciding factor is how stocky you want them to be--If they're sturdily built and tough, rather than having the usual wispy-elf-physique, go with the bottom one. Otherwise, go with the top one.

OK, I prefer the top too.
