Help pls ! Cannot upload a campaign.

Post by taz »

I'm trying to upload the latest (0.6 compatible with BfW 1.1+) version of the Restoration of Wesnoth campaign, but I get the "distant server disconnected" error message.

I tried

campaigns.wesnoth.org

and

campaigns.wesnoth.org:15003

without success...

I just cannot upload the new version of my campaign on the servers (I successfully uploaded the first 5 versions on campaigns.wesnoth.org )

As I can download campaigns from the server and managed to erase the former version (0.5) of the campaign I guess the problems does not come from the server or from my internet connection. So probably it has something to do with a WML typo in the .pbl file. However I cannot spot the mistake as the only thing I changed in this file was the version number and the icon location in order to adapt to the 1.1+ version of the game.

Herebelow copy of the .pbl file
title="Restoration"
icon="units/human-loyalists/grand-knight.png"
version="0.6"
author="taz"
description="In the years following the victory over Mal-Ravanal's undead army, Wesnoth plunged into anarchy. The devastated kingdom disintegrated into civil war. But some courageous people worked hard to restore peace, prosperity and unity to the Kingdom."
passphrase="password"
The campaign is located in userdata/data/campaigns/Restoration and the Restoration.cfg file in userdata/data/campaigns/

Could anybody help ?
Thanks in advance.

Two things: First of all, you might find this link helpful.

http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12656

Second of all, wesnoth 1.1.8 is out, and I strongly recommend getting it. If you can't compile the sourcecode, look around in the wiki about compiling sourcecode for a link to where there are some binaries. What operating system do you use? You might be able to find the binaries for it. Obviously, back up your game on floppy disks first. You'll have to change some of the WML to make it compatable, though. Good luck.

What sort of internet connection speed do you have? Dialup (56k modem), Broadband, Cable? Does it upload a bit and then do you get that message?

As a matter of fact I get exactally the same message whenever I try to upload any of my campaigns from home (I only have 56k modem connection there). It works fine however whenever I am connected with some sort of high speed connection (I just take my laptop into a coffie shop with free wireless or something).
Creater of the campaign, "Northern Rebirth"

Compleater of the campaign, "Son of the Black Eye"

I've seen it already, but cannot spot what is wrong with my .pbl file (which worked perfectly under version 1.0+ of the game)

I use Windows 2000.

Internet Connection : ADSL 1 Mbit/s.

When I try to upload the screen just freeze (for a long time) after the GPL licence blabla.

Will try with Wesnoth 1.1.9 and see if it works.

Tried (today 28th Sept) to upload with version 1.1.8 it’s even worst. Before I was able to download extensions, now it doesn’t work at all. I get the message “distant server disconnected all the time.

server down

They're doing something with the server, changing it. Point is, the server's down. Nothing to do but wait for it to go back up. Until then, work on changing your campaign's WML to the way it is in the mainline campaigns and units. I think they are different.

Done (mostly) already. Now the campaign is compatible with 1.1+ version of the game. That’s why I tried to upload it.
