The liminal units

Post by Thegoergen »

Well... I was reading the new features, and was created a new type of character, the "liminal", like the chaotics, lawfuls e neutrals.

But, what they do? I don't know how to translate it to portuguese.

Liminal means 'on the edges', or 'on the border' or threshold. It's the same word that is used in 'subliminal', which is a psychology term for things '/Below/ the threshold of conscious perception.'

In Wesnoth, we're using it as the term for the edge between light and darkness - e.g. twilight. But it could also be the border between life and death, good and evil, awake and asleep and so on. The Wikipedia article on liminality, particularly 'Liminality in folklore' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liminality ... n_folklore may give some helpful insights. But in many languages I suspect you'll have to be poetic rather than accurate for this one. Things like 'dwellers in twilight' or 'edge people' are possibilities you may need to consider.

I think I understood... is a character em the middle of two things.

Maybe I can call them referencing to the Limbo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limbo). Maybe "límbico" (limbic) or "marginal". I will discuss with others translators.
