You need to actually upload it... Use the selection box at the bottom of the posting window.

And you can use most decent image creation programs to create animations. GIMP will do so. To show an animation on the forum, you'd need to use the .gif format. To use them in the game, you create each frame as an individual .png image, and use WML to tell the game what to display and when.

EDIT: since, at best, this is not going to be going into mainline, I've moved it into the Art Workshop.

We cannot accept copyrighted material for use in Wesnoth. You cannot use screen captures from your favorite game (unless it is also GPL freeware) in official Wesnoth releases or user-made content hosted on the official Wesnoth add-on server. We cannot use material that comes directly from a non-freeware, non-GPL game like RuneScape, and claiming that it is yours to freely distribute is a big no-no.

You can't use animations in your avatar on this site anyway, they're not permitted. So I wouldn't worry...

Nobody's yelled. scienceguy8 (who, by the way, isn't a mod. I am, though.) made this site's position on copyrighted material clear. The policy is a little more lax for avatars, but there are still limits on size and animation.

It doesn't matter if you post that it is not yours. Do not post work on material under copyright, particularly when it is easily recognizable as such.

Also, you have two threads about the same topic, and have gotten the same responses in both. Locked.
