Announcement for The Bee's Journey v2.0 project

In 2026, the legendary The Bee's Journey campaign returns with a rebirth!

TBJ, my first project in Wesnoth, has been stagnant for a long time due to the author's and other projects' circumstances. I have now decided to fully resume development and undertake a thorough remake to make it a more fun experience. :twisted:

Every aspect of the campaign (code, units, prose, maps, etc.) will be rewritten newly. However, unlike the previous New Edition project, there will be no major changes to the plot. :eng:
That summer, the Kingdom of Bees was destroyed under the hornet invasion. You, the lone surviving princess, must lead the bees on their journey to rebuild the homeland.

(Intermediate level, 12 scenarios planned, currently 10 playable.)

Development Details

----

This project is primarily intended for Wesnoth 1.19/1.20. The ongoing 1.18 maintenance will be phased out. However, for now, it should still work on 1.18 in most cases. In addition, there is NO compatibility whatsoever with previous campaign versions.

For now, the campaign is available from the 1.19 add-ons server. ;)

  • First (and so far only) campaign in Wesnothian history featuring the bees as the main characters!
  • Lovely & first-class graphics by Tsunami_ and Renlie_Cocoa.
  • A storyline and prose that place relatively greater emphasis on portraying emotions.
  • Reborn gameplay and beautifully enhanced maps.
  • Furthermore, this time I made a conscious effort to give the music an atmosphere as well.

Version 1.99.0 (Alpha) is out!

----

This is the initial release of this project, uploaded to the 1.19 addons server (NOT 1.18!). For optimal play, Wesnoth 1.19.17 or later is recommended.

Currently, 5 scenarios are full-playable.

As this is an initial release, no specific changelog is provided, but details of previous commits can be viewed here.

I'll also make an announcement on Discord later.

Two new scenarios are now playable. Additionally, over ten new units have been added, and achievements have been implemented for all existing scenarios.

Currently, 7 scenarios are full-playable.

  * Deprecated directory: saves
* Create achievements and apply them to all existing scenarios.
* Create various macros for scenarios.

### Graphics and Music

* Removed music: wesnoth-6.ogg
* Optimize images and directory structure, and copy required assets.

* S5 - Arrival at Lagos Island
  * Balancing related to changes to ant units.

* Update POT and Japanese translation.

* Hide the ants from mainline.
I'm already preparing the next and subsequent scenarios.

A major release packed with huge improvements! Based on advice I received on Discord, custom AMLAs have been implemented on a trial basis. Also, the Campaign Help has been rewritten in Lua, making it more visually user-friendly.

And three new fresh scenarios have been added. Currently, 10 scenarios are full-playable.

* Implement character AMLAs; currently only for Marie, Noaille, Dragochan, and Imorin.
  * Imorin can now acquire a new charm weapon special.
  * This was created based on advice from Dimetro-Dog (@inuyasha5) on Discord.
* Switch the campaign help to Lua implementation.

* Updated sprite: King Bee

  * Balancing a little.

Only the S9 map has not yet finalized its visual polish.

It should be fairly balanced overall, but feedback is always welcome. ;)

Honey Meets Darkness
It would be best if the bow said that only Bees and their advancements can take the bow. Or to say that Drone advancements also can't take the bow. Currently it's unclear if advancements of Drones can take the bow until you try it out.
