Averon, version 0.1.0 work in progress

The project has been tested on "The Battle for Wesnoth" 1.18.5
The main purpose is a refactoring of the "Art of War" era (viewtopic.php?t=46725) making it modern, more simple and balanced.

Game style - the add-on is focused on PvP. Campaigns are possible but aren't planned for now.

Our team (still the same as for the "Art of War" era):
Oleg Nikitin aka Fiben – leader, idea man, designer, programmer, tester, writer.
Aleksey Blagoveshchensky aka Barbos – artist, idea man, critic, tester.
Victor Tereshchenko aka VAT – art editor, sound editor, material finder, tester.

Factions of Averon

There were seven factions in "Art of War":
- Aurora Empire
- Dark Brotherhood
- Horde
- Sylvan Enclave
- Sky Kingdom
- Eagle Duchy
- Tribal Union

In "Averon" 1.0.0 there will be five factions: Aurora Empire, Dark Brotherhood, Horde, Sylvan Enclave, Sky Kingdom
In "Averon" 1.1.0 will be added Eagle Republic (former Eagle Duchy)
In "Averon" 1.2.0 will be added Tribal Union
In "Averon" 1.3.0 will be added Frozen Autocracy (brand new northern faction)

All unit rosters and related materials are ready. It's not a new work, it's a refactoring.

Aurora Empire

"Order is the basis of balance."

Consists of plain humans and machines.
Plain humans are totally average.
Machines are immune to morale and poison but can not level-up.

Aurora Empire is focusing on a battle formations and on a war machines.

There are a traditional combat style, an offensive tactics, an average unit prices, a lack of really strong units and availability of artillery.
There are the strongest commanders who boost attack and resistance in equal proportions.
There are the poorest magic users who can heal, cure poison and protect (boost resistance) other units.

Dark Brotherhood

"Chaos is a ladder."

It has an unusual structure.
Dark masters (Dark humans) are weaker physically than plain humans but they are really stronger mentally.
Tamers are quite the same as ordinary humans (plain humans).
Undead are immune to morale and poison, healthy, well-protected and not very expensive but can not level-up.
Lemuts are quite various, from those weak to very strong ones and from those cheap to expensive ones. They require an accurate usage based on their weaknesses and strengths.

Dark Brotherhood is focusing on immobilizing of an enemy with cannon-fodder Undead and on eliminating them with unusual Lemut features after that.

There are an offensive tactics, a variety of units and their prices.
There are not very strong commanders who can lead only Lemuts, boosting their attack very much but hurting them each turn.
There are strong magic users who can summon and "heal" Undead.

Sylvan Enclave

Consists of wood elves, treefolk and beasts.
Wood elves are a bit weaker physically than plain humans but they are quite stronger mentally.
Treefolk are stronger physically and mentally than plain humans but they have vulnerability to fire and they are rare (units are expensive).
Beasts are much strong physically than plain humans.

Sylvan Enclave is focusing on a ranged combat and ambushes.

There are a guerilla tactics, a tendency to have forest landscapes and a high unit prices.
There are no traditional (with leadership) commanders. Instead there are elven heroes who can teach (add XP) to each wood elf near them each turn.
There are an average magic users who can summon strong beasts and lead them to battle.

Horde

"Victory is on the side of large detachments."

Consists of swamp goblins, forest goblins, monsters and machines.
All goblins are weaker physically and mentally than plain humans.
Swamp goblins are stronger physically than forest goblins and weaker mentally and vice versa.
Monsters are very much stronger physically than plain humans.

There is militia (level 0 units) who are cheap but not very dangerous. Just cannon-fodder.

Horde is focusing on a melee fight and on a numerical superiority.

There are an offensive tactics, a low unit prices and a tendency to use poisons.
There are strong commanders which cannot be recruited but appear after level-up of some ordinary units. There are two group of commanders: swamp goblin commanders and forest goblin commanders who lead eponymous races only and can't lead monsters.
There are decent magic users who can summon totems which support other units.

Sky Kingdom

Consists of fairies, monsters and elementals.
Fairies are quite weaker physically than plain humans and much stronger mentally.
Elementals are immune to morale and poison, CAN level-up and have strong physical and elemental resistances.

Sky Kingdom is focusing on a strong point strikes.

There are a hit-and-run tactics, an elemental attacks, a lack of health, a good resistances and a very high unit prices. Almost all units are very mobile.
There are an average commanders.
There are the strongest magic users who can heal and cure poison.

Eagle Republic

Consists of plain humans, machines and buildings.
Buildings are immune to morale and poison, can not level-up and can not move but are very strong.

Eagle Republic is focusing on holding positions and accumulating resources.

There are a defensive tactics, a balanced units and a ranged elemental attacks.
Commanders are replaced with combat engineers who can create battle machines and buildings.
There are decent magic users who can boost each other making ranged attacks very strong.

Tribal Union

Consists of primal goblins, monsters and plants.
Primal goblins are almost as strong as plain humans physically but stronger mentally.
Plants are like buildings but can level-up, can move and much weaker.

Tribal Union is focusing on a rush of a mobile regiments.

There are an offensive tactics, a low unit prices, a lack of defense, elemental and poison attacks.
There are the strongest commanders.
There are very strong magic users who hurt themselves on each ranged attack.
There are plant growers who can create various plants.

Frozen Autocracy

Consists of nordlings, white elves, monsters, buildings and elementals.
Nordlings are much stronger physically than plain humans but much weaker mentally.
White elves are almost as strong physically as plain humans and much stronger mentally.

Frozen Autocracy is focusing on exhausting an enemy by defence formations and strong and an unexpected counterattack.

There are a defensive tactics, a high unit prices, a very strong resistances and a low unit mobility.
There are strong commanders.
There are very strong magic users who excel fairies in attack and defense.
There are healers who can summon supporting elementals.

Problems with upload 0.2.0

The next version 0.2.0 is ready but for now I can't upload it on the BfW add-ons server. Since I live and create in Russia we have some... issues ;) with connection to some Internet resources (our goverment decides which ones). Trying to find a way to share our work with all the community :)

If you host your add-on on GitHub, it is possible to automate it so that it uploads your add-on to the add-ons server directly from GitHub. So there would be no need for you personally to connect to the add-ons server.

An example of this:

Of course, you would need to be able to connect to GitHub. I'm not sure if that's actually any easier for you than connecting to the Wesnoth add-ons server...
