fall of dwarven doors

Post by redbeard2 »

Just finished the the stories Deceiver's Gambit and Ashevier's Dogs, one thing I am left wondering: how concurrent is the fall of Dwarven Doors to these events? Orcs are running rampant over Wesnoth, is this chaos contributing to the orcs then attacking Knalga, or have they done this by the time of Garard's death? Khazg Black-Tusk is not mentioned at all, nor the Bloody Swords in the entire conflict as far as I can recall, so I wonder
...in Heir to the Throne Delfador when they get to Dwarven Doors recounts events maybe as if they had happened in his lifetime, but it's not clear. Any commentary/clarifications?

Creator of TDG here. The intro of Northern Rebirth says "Dark years passed; human generations grew up in slavery, and came near to forgetting that their ancestors had been free — and might have completely forgotten were it not for a fateful day in 518YW."

TDG ends in 501YW. For NR's the line about "human generations grew up in slavery" to make sense, my opinion is that Dwarven Doors must've fallen many years before the end of TDG, and probably many years before its start too. TDG's scenario 11 "Galcadar" also includes a signpost with the words "Dwarven Doors" struckthrough, which I meant to imply that the Doors had already been conquered by that time.

Makes sense given the orcs were dominating the north of the river during the campaign, I’d imagine before Doors fell it would have been more open
