Question about Barag Gor walkthough

Post by baluku1 »

Unfortunately, I entered this scenario without any Level 2 units. I am finding it difficult.

I noted this on this on the walk-through description:

"It is especially important to spend all of your ally's gold on the first turn, because his upkeep costs are huge and every turn you wait is gold wasted. You will need to create at least 14 open castle hexes to do this, and it's worth moving a few units into the surrounding hills rather than attacking from castle tiles on the first turn to make the necessary space."

I am confused. How do I use the Ally's gold on the first turn? My leader is in the keep in the northeast corner. Is there a way to recruit into the center castle on the Turn 1? If there is, I haven't figured it out. I assume I need to get Kapoue down there in order to use Ally gold and recruit from the center castle, correct?

You can control your ally in this scenario. When his turn come just use all his gold and try to have all castle parts free to recruit on them. Castle is big so shouldn't be hard.

Yes, but how do I do this?

I have castle spaces that are empty and my Ally has gold. However, whenever I select the "recruit" action, it recruits in the keep with Kapoue, NOT in the center castle.

My Ally is all the orcs in the center castle, yes? Do I have to something special in order to recruit there?

I definitely do NOT have an option to recruit in the center castle. If I did, this scenario might be a bit more manageable

I see people mentioning a green leader. I do not have one. I ran past the Dwarves in the scenario before Barag Gor rather than defeat the Dwarven leader. Perhaps that is why I do not have any ally in the Barag Gor scenario? If I defeat the Dwarves, I get a Troll ally in Barag Gor?

What color are the orcs in the center castle?

You should see 6 sides:
  1. Kapou’e (red)
  2. Elves in the bottom left corner, plus some besieging the center castle (blue)
  3. Orcs in the center castle (green)
  4. Elves in the bottom right corner (purple)
  5. Elves in the top right corner (black)
  6. Elves in the top left corner (brown)
Kapou’e’s side should go first, then the blue elves, then the orcs in the center castle, then the purple elves, etc. The advice in the walkthrough, about spending all of your ally's gold, is talking about what you should do when you are controlling side 3 (which will not happen until after Kapou’e and the blue elves have made their moves).

Hi all,

Thank you for your help. I just realized what the problem was:

It never occurred to me to try the "recruit" action during the Green Orcs' turn. I only tried during Kapoue's turn. I had been trying to play the scenario with only the starting orcs. With the additional forces in the center castle, it's much easier to hold the center until my other forces arrive.
