Parts of it are nice, and the stance seems appropriate for a "rogue mage", but I'm having trouble reading what's going on with whatever it is he's holding. The hood is also a bit hard to read; it's darker than the neck-scarf so maybe it's part of the hair?

Thank you so much for the feedback doofus, I was having a hard time with this unit, so much appreciated!
As you can see, I have changed alot of the sprite after that! The only problem I have is that it might look to royal?

Sorry for so many posts, but I think the guys are finally at the quality they need to be! I am going to try do the other levels now, and if anyone wants to animate they are free to do so!

Those are looking much better! I'd say to keep the orb glow out of the sprite, it can be added as a separate layer in the animations. The only semitransparent pixels should be the shadow (and even that could be a separate layer). The sword tip could have a couple pure white pixels, to bring it forward.
The sprites might be a little too "rogue" and not enough "mage", but I don't remember the unit well enough to say for sure.

I said the same on Discord, they look more like an Arcane Rogue than a Rogue Mage, which is not the same meaning of the word rogue.

I've taken a short break from the shadow mage line (I will return to them, worry not, I just had an artist's block). I looked if there were any sprites with glaring issues, and the one that captured my eye was Dacyn from Eastern Invasion. I found how strange the sprite looked, definitely for a mainline campaign. Here is my 2nd attempt at fixing him (I actually attempted him a few months ago, but those sprites weren't that great, so I remade them). Any glaring issues? The face looks sort of strange to me, but I cannot put my finger on it.

I think they need to be more level (horizontal).
Also, that's a big and presumably heavy staff he's lugging around.
The way he carries it looks odd to me, not wrong... but I don't think many people would carry such an item as a dead weight?
I think it would look more natural if the staff was nearly upright and resting on the floor or was maybe made a tad more slender?
Just my tuppence worth - I'm no artist and couldn't do what you do so feel free to ignore!

His face accounts for about 20-25% of his height. It looks right in proportion to his arms, I think it's the legs that don't look right to me. It's as if his knees connect to his waist, with no thighs in between. But perhaps he's just hunched over? He seems to be leaning slightly forward, but not enough to account for the difference. If he is hunched over, I'd kind of expect to see one leg farther forward than the other for balance.

Hey guys! Thanks alot for the help Spannnerbag and white_haired_uncle, as well as Duke Anax, Gelomante and Lucipurr on Discord. I (think) I have improved the sprite alot thanks to everyone's help, now its looking alot more like dacyn (apart from having the hair too dark). Welp, here it is
As a word of warning, some of the tc doesnt work...
