Portraits for "Liberty"

Post by Jason Lutes »

After consulting with Scott about his "Liberty" campaign, I've come up with portraits for the two main characters:

Harper:

and Baldras:

I'm hoping these are the right format, and that I'm posting them correctly for use by the devs. Let me know if they're not.

More to come...

Yup, .png is the correct file format for images. And those portraits looks great, their clothing and slightly unshaven look is especially appropriate.

The line art is very good.

However, I think the shading could use some work. Personally, I think the technique you're using, with one shade and one darker shade for each color, is inferior to the one jetryl uses, with different shades fading into each other...

I like this shading approach myself, and it's one that I can do quickly, so with 200+ portraits to get through, I'm going to stick with it. You're free to go in and manipulate my artwork to make it look better, of course...

 Wow, uh, thanks turin. :D

I do have to sympathize with Jason, here - really, who the heck cares? These pictures look wonderful even with a rather basic coloring method.

The important thing is that despite being simple, his coloring method is well-applied - unlike, say, francisco's old portraits, wherein the colors were in the wrong place. To wit:

Evil.
Jason here actually knows how to shade (understatement), and that is why he can use the bare minimum set of differentiation between shades and still have it come out looking good.
