In Defense of Kharos

Hello everyone,

This is the feedback thread for my little campaign "In Defense of Kharos" where we see the beginning of the Tharis invasion of Kharos on their eastern border. I really liked TLU and EoMa as an era especially. I always love to replay this campaign, but for now its the only campaign where you can enjoy the Sky Kingdom and the Kharosian people. As I liked them especially I decided to dwell into the world of WML and created a little campaign of my own. For now it is 7scenarios with the eigthbeing worked on currently. It isn as great as @inferno8 has polished its campaign, but I think it may be enjoyable nontheless.
It starts in the eastern border town of Solveig and our hero and his company try to fight or better to escape the Tharis invasion.

I beat scenario 1. It was fun.

Most of the action occurred on the small island. Replay attached.

You might want to fix the gold carryover. In the objectives, you indicated that you wanted the carryover to be 30%.
When I beat the scenario, I got the default 80% gold carryover -- which is a lot.

I looked at the WML for the scenario. The WML in the objectives regarding carryover does nothing but put a message on the screen. Gold carryover is a 2-step process. You also need to add the 30% in [endlevel].

Good job. It was nice to see Era of Magic units again. :D

I thank you for the feedback! I am looking forward how you will judge the other scenarios.
I fixed the gold carryover and will look into your replay

Good job. It was nice to see Era of Magic units again. :D

Update: 0.0.80 is out.
I added a little bit more story at scenario 4 and fixed the death dialogues and defeat conditions in sc. 4. Please report if there is still a bug.

Hi. I updated the campaign.

There isn't an icon for the campaign. I see an "image not found" message. I'm guessing that you tried to add a custom icon (not a core unit). Adding a custom icon is a little tricky.

1. search the internet and open the "Data URI generator"
2. on that website, upload your image file where it says (one of the Era of Magic units, I presume)
3. Generate URI
4. copy the URI code from the output field (this is a huge line of seemingly random letters that somehow turn into a sprite icon)
5. go to your PBL file and paste that code in between quotation marks in icon= ""
6. update the campaign

Also, on the add-on server, under dependencies, you repeat and misspell "Resources" by adding an extra S, so the server wants me to upload the Era of Magic even though I already have it, so probably just delete that whole thing since you already wrote it correctly anyway.

Still no icon.

Does your icon= data look something like this?

It's possible for the campaign-maker to see an icon, but not people who download the add-on.

I finished scenario 2. It was similar to scenario 1, but still fun. The hydras crossing the deep water changed things a lot, as well as the new level 2 enemies.

You didn't make the death of Antuja a defeat condition, so I didn't protect her well enough and she was killed.

I started scenario 3 and discovered that Antuja's death is a defeat condition. Oops!

I suppose either make the player keep her alive in scenario 2, or remove her death as a defeat condition in scenario 3?

I see, the icon is only working if Era of Magic Resources is already installed.

On another note, I notice that the addon contains an extraneous file In_Defense_of_Kharos.7z.

Finished scenario 3. It was a quick one, and the easiest so far.

Although the objectives says 40% gold carryover, the player only gets 20%.

Also, the objectives say the player will lose if Antuja is defeated, but I didn't see any code to make the player lose.

I beat the 4th (final) scenario. It was challenging but not frustrating, which I like.

The trap door did not appear on the map, but the coordinates still worked. You used the wrong name for the trapdoor png.

This code should work.

I was confused by the new objective that appeared after the trap door was used. It said, "Fight to the end." I thought it meant that I was supposed to kill all the enemy units, which didn't seem possible. I almost quit, but then I decided to play a couple more turns to see if anything happened. After I killed a particular enemy unit, I won, which surprised me.

I attached a replay, in case you're curious how the battle developed and concluded.

Those Era of Magic enemy units are fun to fight. :D

Hups, I forget sceanrio 3 when I added the [die] events ^^ I will fix it.

My hero was supposed to die in scenario 4, but I beat the scenario with my hero still alive because of a WML bug?

Sorry dude, but I'm not replaying it to watch him die. I'm retiring from your campaign as the only champion who beat the un-winnable scenario.

Woo! My hero did a Kobayashi Maru on scenario 4. Now I know how Captain Kirk felt. :)
