Re: Improved The Wilderlands
It is certainly possible; that is actually how they used to retreat in an earlier version. But now with other players (especially human players) being a somewhat larger threat than the wildlife, the computer players tend to survive better if they retreat back into their own (corner) territory. It is a longer trip but they encounter a few more allies and far fewer organized enemies along that way.
If you want to improve their chances of success you can lower the monster spawn rates or population caps. But for the default settings, having monsters slow down and sometimes even kill the grail bearer is meant to give other players a chance to steal it (or be useful escorts if allied with the bearer).

Finally got a chance to give it a play. Funny that you mention the new fade-in, I happened to notice it (probably because it is more noticeable). Nice!
Everything runs smoothly. I almost forgot how to play it again... was settling in for a normal fight until I remembered to move... : ) Probably lucky I was playing the Era of Chaos vampires... turned 'em all into bats and flew like a pack of bats outta hell towards the armour. Was a tad worried that when I grabbed the armour and turned into a bat it would break but I'm glad to report that even this odd UMC ability worked flawlessly with the scenario.
Bat wearing armour. :-)
Oh only noticed a trivial thing in the stderr:
20230224 18:51:58 warning ai/ca/testing_ai_default: Leader not found
20230224 18:52:00 warning ai/ca/testing_ai_default: Leader not found
20230224 18:52:00 warning ai/ca/testing_ai_default: Leader not found
...
Probably unimportant but what do I know.

Fortunately, since there is no "man" aspect to your armor clad bat character, it does not infringe on the "Batman" intellectual property. So when you are nevertheless sued by the entertainment corporation owning said property, you may only need ten or twenty million USD to defend yourself in the courts.
Looks like this error report begins to occur on turn 3 when a computer controlled player side receives its
[leader_goal]
to go after the armor. This feature is almost never used in mainline, so seems reasonable it would have some rough edges. There does not appear to be any bad behavior associated with it, thankfully.- Atreides

Oh shucks, that's no big thing. I can print that much cash in no time. ; )name wrote: ↑February 27th, 2023, 5:46 pmFortunately, since there is no "man" aspect to your armor clad bat character, it does not infringe on the "Batman" intellectual property. Yeah, sometimes it is easy to forget that Wesnoth is a volunteer made thing. I mean the wiki is desperately in need of help for one thing.name wrote: ↑February 27th, 2023, 5:46 pmLooks like this error report begins to occur on turn 3 when a computer controlled player side receives its[leader_goal]
