I think a Team that get a BYE should get a free win = 3 points:

-they shouldn't get punished because of the odd player number
-they should have a chance to get 3 point every round

In other tournaments it's usually that those players just get a free win. But there is also Tie-Break.

When are we gonna get this weeks map and matchups? Last week I only hada couple of days to find the people and organize a match, we barely managed to play it in time.

SIgning up for the compo means the teams come with a willingness to play.
It's wasy to award points normally, it's when problems arise that there could be a lot of issues:

If team A fails to appear for a match on an agreed time, then team B should get a technical victory (3 points), good sportsmanship says the teams should try to play again before the time limit ends to avoid this (we all came to play afteral).

If both teams have enough issues not to be able to play, then both teams get 0 points. (both teams lack a willingness to play)

If team A misses a match, but can't arrange a new match with them B before the deadline, then team B should get 1 point (after all, team B didn't play, but a point for trying, this is usually called a noshow for team A)

Issues might arise if multiple matches fail, depending on who did what, different points might get assigned (this can get complicated very quickly so the organizator should look at the evidence and decide who gets what)
The organizer also decides who gets what in similar cases, things like players disconnecting, delaying tactics, (play each turn half an hour to force the other team to get annyoed and quit), and any other border cases like these.

The main issue is not to give points for doing nothing, as the opposite case opens up a door for people with a point lead to skip matches and win the league (not playing actually gives them points, which isn't really sporstmanlike).
