Please do not overlook the previous page of the port project.
Re: vghetto port project
Hello everybody,
Unfortunately my time with wesnoth has come to an end.
A powersurge fried my computer's power supply and I have lost access to all of my files.
I've lost access to my email, github and wesnoth accounts. I used a password manager for all of those using a randomly generated password for each one of them. :/
Sad to say that I've also lost access to all of my wesnoth addons repos.
I don't know if my hard disks got fried as well. It doesn't look good.
I guess I'm forced to buy a new computer. I don't know when I'll be doing that.
Anyway, it was fun interacting with y'all while it lasted.
Thanks for all the fishes.
Bye bye.

Oh well, I hope you realise how much your work is appreciated. If it wasn't for you I'd have never realised that the crazy thing I did around ten years ago was still in demand.
I will make an effort to get this campaign finished, and when it does, you can claim some of the credit.
All the best.

Re: vghetto port project
For the github repos, you can always fork the existing repos using a new github account and continue from there. If you have something that can prove you're definitely who you say you are, then it'd also be possible to get you access back to your original forum account as well as able to upload the add-ons.vghetto2 wrote: ↑February 15th, 2022, 7:36 pm Hello everybody,

Re: vghetto port project
Sorry about that
Do you mean that you never did a backup onto a USB hard disk? If that's the case, once you get a new computer you should definitely invest in an external disk too: it literally saved me when my internal disk crashed and I backed everything up just three days earlier...

Re: vghetto port project
Frightening. I have not yet backed up anything on my new PC (well I got it Dec. 2018) so it's high time... I was planning on doing it when Debian 9 support ends in June (they warn big time to backup before you upgrade that) by buying some DVD-RW's. All I have from my old PC are CD-RW's and at 700 MB I'd need 100's...
It's terrible news though.

Re: vghetto port project
Does anyone plan to port the project dawn_of_thunder to 1.16 ?
Re: vghetto port project
And if someone know how to port and can explain it to me, i'd be interested and thankful.

Re: vghetto port project
The first step is just copying the 1.14 add-on to the 1.16 add-ons folder, and see if it works as-is or not. If not, you'll need to start learning WML, and there's the WML Workshop forum for asking questions about that.

Re: vghetto port project
I think the original dev of it is still around... yeah checking my PMs, Paulomat4 wrote me last September about incorporating changes from my GitHub repository of it into the official version; my GitHub repo for it is here: https://github.com/cooljeanius/dawn_of_thunder

Re: vghetto port project
I am happy to read that. In fact I wish I could help. Anyway, I created 2 campaigns (the dark master and the dark horde I, the second is an imaginable ending to the original dark hordes). They work (balanced but not perfect) on 1.12 and I tried to let them work on 1.14 but I really don't know if they work.vghetto wrote: ↑November 25th, 2021, 1:17 pm Hi,
I started working on a project where I'll be porting some campaigns from 1.12 to 1.14.
The idea is simple. Take 1.12 campaigns that are not in 1.14. remove bom and convert them to unix, utf-8 ...
run wmllint. run wmlindent. fix bugs along the way, and upload them to 1.14 using a shared public password. ( 16 x)
Anyone that would like to privately maintain or redo the work can do so by deleting the add on and reuploading with their own password.
This is not a promise that I'll be doing all of them. Some might get dropped along the way.
Any active maintainers that don't want me to do a specific one can let me know.

Due to material problems I only use old PCs so I can't play on 1.14+ so you and everyone are free to maintain, change and add whatever you want .
PS : they are long campaigns and they are related to each other with some easter eggs to other legendary campaigns.
I wish someone likes them and so works on them

Re: vghetto port project
I finished Return of the Legion and I ported it. Also I finished and published my version of The Dark Hordes but only tested 1.12 (I will return to it later may be)
I want to know if there is another campaign on the same sphere of IftU, AtS, Genesis, LotI, For Power, ...
Or the dragon trilogy (aria of the dragon jewel),
Or The Amaranthine Stone...
on 1.1 or 1.2
I found Phoenix Kingdom and the tribe and I already updated their .cfg files but their graphics is low and so I didn't uploaded them until I fix that

Re: vghetto port project
I started paying more attention again and noticed that a campaign I made got caught up in this.
I'm going through it now and fixing some things that got missed in the initial porting process.
One of these things is that these old campaigns had different requirements for terrain_mask and the file format doesn't quite match anymore (things end up in the wrong spot as a result).
Adding:
alignment=odd
to those tags restores old behaviour without having to rebuild the map files used for terrain_mask.
