Edwylm's sprite alterations

Post by Edwylm »

Hello, I would like to share some altered/new sprites that I have been working on to the community of Wesnoth. I was working on making a add-on but I have to abandon it. All the altered/new sprites respectively should be fully credited to the original creators of the sprites as I only edited/modified the sprites to create new ones. If I forget/don't know the creator of the original sprites please let me know and I'll add them. Also if there is any problem of Copyright or other legal stuff let me know too and I'll fix it.

If The Sprites need more work on them I will edit them a little more to make them look better.

First off in the altered/new sprites are the salamanders from the Era of Magic original creator of their art by inferno8.
I created 6 level 3 units and 3 more Level 2. On the right side of the line are random sprites of Salamanders.

Level 2 Units are; White, Red, and Brown Salamanders
Level 3 Units are; Ice/Frost, Water/Aquatic, Forest, Dark/Night, Fire, and Ground Salamanders.

Hello there,

I like your sprites. They looked good.
Just an advice, maybe the spring forestsalamander could be more colorful and flowery so the salamander won't look bland.

Thanks,

As to your suggestion would this be better? Even though "black and green" team colors will not be much effective but this will add more variations during game play.

The placement of the flowers might be changed, as right now they are near the border of the foliage if you have any thoughts of where the flowers should be placed to make it more visually appealing I'll be happy to make the changes.

Also if anyone wants to suggest any coloration for Salamanders I'm up for it.

From the New Order the akladian homeguard, protector and shieldguard I have altered their swords into Maces and a flail. I have played the New Order and I was wondering why they had maces for attacks where their image was with a sword. I read that many people wanted the attack to match the image and I'm not sure if they fixed that yet. So I shall fix that mistake if it hasn't already. Here are the new akladian homeguard, protector and shieldguard!!! :)
Also please give the original makers the full credit as I only edited them a little bit.

Re: Edwylm's sprite alterations/ Dwarven Thunder Chariot

Post by Edwylm »

Had a little idea on some Dwarven mounts. I think this one would be useful for the Dwarves. Though this will not be included in my obscured folklore era.

The base image is from Rashy's era dardo chariot.

the implementation of the two thunderguards look really smooth,
but it feels like dwarfs wouldn use horses for chariots. they would have a hard time to tame the horses in the first place.
also the chariot itself looks too imperialistic/ non-dwarven

maybe they would use some sort of machines or slower "beasts"

I attached a goat-chariot from a gnome faction from wotg (author not credited).

Well thanks for your input :)

Well would dwarves use horses for chariots that is debatable. based on wesnoth's lore humans and dwarves have good relationship. It would be possible that the humans traded the horses and chariots. As for taming that is uncertain as many people would say taming gryphons to be harder than horses as seen in HttT.

For me this could be seen as possible dwarven mercenary or a level 2 or 3 for a dwarven chariot line. since they probably have a trample for the only melee and main weapon is range, best bet would to use faster mounts to shoot and run.

But I will work with that idea and post it in the topic.

yes, nice!
these ramming ones could be their single animation frame for moving. the standing goats are just fine for them standing.
good work.
