Yes, IftU is a great campaign :wink: (my avatar and nickname come straight from here)
But there is also an alternative sequel, called "The Sojournings of Grog", that I'm currently maintaining. It's on the add-ons server.
Current maintainer of these add-ons, all on 1.16:
The Sojournings of Grog, Children of Dragons, A Rough Life, Wesnoth Lua Pack, The White Troll (co-author)

Right, and a display showing available recruits is integral to the idea.

Further on in the conversation, there was also a suggestion of non-recruitable population that could be altered according to scripted events. This would also be displayed to the player. This would give someone a way to measure how well they did in the campaign, and may even effect the story of the campaign to a certain degree, perhaps even give you a different ending, depending on how many people you have left.

I am told these ideas would be relatively easy to script. So what do you think of the possibility of using them, fabi?

I finally finished this campaign last night. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that Shydes and Stars can’t fly over deep water. They can fly over bottomless chasms, but not over deep water? It doesn’t make any sense, and it unnecessarily complicates some scenarios, but overall it wasn’t a big deal.

This is definitely my favorite mainline campaign: the story and dialogues were very good and many scenarios offered some sort of tactical challenge different from usual. The variety in scenarios, maps and objectives made the whole campaign very enjoyable for me.

Now to go play "The Sojournings of Grog"...

"Invasion from the Unknown" Part I and II are already installed and waiting for me to finish "The Sojournings of Grog". I thought "After the Storm" was still incomplete, so I have not yet downloaded it - I prefer complete campaigns (even if they are not balanced), but I think I'll make an exception once I'm done with IftU. As for TSL... I admit I have no idea which campaign that is. :oops:

TSL: The Silver Lands by Espreon, I believe. It's not complete like AtS, but it's intended to follow AtS IIRC. Anyways, it's an alternate branch. Since I see you played both ways (siding with the trolls or the dwarves) you can play both!

well, i guess you mean flooding the caves where the macro kills everything in deep water.

you could think of it as there is no space for flying above the water.
it is in caves and the water might be filling it completely.

There are a number of scenarios that use deep water aside from that one.

Sorry if this is considered spam or off topic, but this is absolutely one of my favorite campaigns!!!
When I played it through it really gave me a strange feeling, like in some way the history of another people searching for their "holy land" might be mirrored here ;D
I know its not related at all, but still, somewhat similar.....
A really epic campaign, thank you!

Playing on 1.9.4+svn, I found a small bug: in Out of the Frying Pan, after the dialogue with Keratur, not only the ally (in my case Grog), but also Zhul loses the silver crown overlay. This happens because the code (at line 3910) is:

Code: Select all

            [remove_unit_overlay]
                [filter]
                    id=$ally_name
                [/filter]
                image=misc/hero-icon.png
            [/remove_unit_overlay]
It can be fixed replacing it with:

Code: Select all

            [remove_unit_overlay]
                id=$ally_name
                image=misc/hero-icon.png
            [/remove_unit_overlay]

So, I know this is six years too late, but I was wondering why UtBS decided the future of Wesnoth should be destruction and rebirth? I've been brainstorming campaign ideas and keep running into this barrier of a wesnoth-wide catastrophe.

I'm pretty sure the timeline on this is very vast and or undisclosed. There's -plenty- of chronological room to breathe.

see http://wiki.wesnoth.org/History_of_Wesnoth
the UtBS, IftU, SoG series of campaigns need to be better fleshed into that at the end
but there does seem to be plenty of room between 858YW and those events.
perhaps in a new topic you can describe your campaign vision and folks can brainstorm times and places in the world that it fits.
