Alhaz, I am affraid I will have to find another artist. Maybe I will tell Lukasz that he should return the money, finish the last story image, and then I will search someone else. I understand that now, once Łukasz is finishing the university and is getting real commissions for real money, is not willing to work as much on graphic for ANO. Nevertheless I cannot wait indefinetely for him finishing what he has promised to do.

Grekulak by Łukasz Zaręba.

Sligthly changed. Seems a bit more weird than menacing. The opinions?

My first impression was that I really like this interpretation. I think it does need to be more menacing as you say, and the perspective on the staff isn't working properly. Is Łukasz going to finish it off or has he stopped work?

He is going to finish it off. Actually, he promised to finish off all the pictures within a week, a promise I am not sure he will be able to keep.

I think the staff is masterpice, looks very good. I would keep the hood on the head IMO, but I cant decide whats better :)

Looking good. There is a perspective error with the staff.
1. Staff looks symmetrical.
2. If one is true than staff is pointing back. (I mean the red bulb part)
3. If hand is true than staff is pointing front.

But I can not imagine a shape for the staff for 4 to be true.

Easiest fix would be to change the hand. Take a broom look in the mirror.

One more thing. What do you think about the ear? It looks to perfect for a lich, given that it has no use.
Suggestions: Tear it, stitch it, make it pointy, rip it off.

Ya, the hand needs to be twisted slightly... the butt end of the stuff widened maybe..

I love that red tattoo (or whatever it is) thing on his lower jaw. Maybe have more of it on his face or head?
He is truly not menacing enough. How about making his gaze more focused and intense instead of vacant? And maybe give him a more evil sneer.

I have forwarded all the remarks to Łukasz. In the meantime, new versions:

Grekulak:

Barbarian warrior/sturmknight, maybe also for some lords:

He looks very cool IMO, but I started to think - does he looks as he could succesfully challenge the regular, steel-armored Wesnothian folk? Maybe I should ask Łukasz for some slight suggestions of armour worn under the leather armour (since what he has now seems like a leather armour)?

Dropping the eyebrows was pretty effective. I think a darker background would help too? Staff/hand is better.
I think Grekulak would probably not have [the soft cartilage on] his nose. Is the red thing at the back his cloak? It's hard to work out what it is.

I guess the current Grekulak will have to suffice now; I am waiting for the Akladian sturmknight finished.

Eh, only if sleepwalker wouldn't be so busy with creating animations for dwarves and other awesomeness, and would decide to use his godly powers to create missing fastfoot sprite, everything would be great :)

New version of chaotic Akladian from Łukasz Zaręba.
There is something not quite right with his right hand (on the left side of the picture), and more exactly, with the strange angle at which the sword is twisted.

Comments?

Armor should be more "armored" if you know what I mean :D

Yes, I know; the problem is that Łukasz already is getting "Serious" commissions for "Serious" money, and he invested a lot of work into this jpeg already. Complete rework is out of question.

Maybe it will be raider, instead of sturmknight. Maybe, in the far, far future I will commission other portraits (unlikely within next year) with more "armoured" Akladians.

Sylar suggested new sprites for the heroes. Here is frankensprite by Sylar for Reme Carrenemoe. Thoughts?
