Female Elf Archers--- what should we do?

Post by Elvish_Pillager »

The female Elf Archer image looks WAY more powerful than the male one. I think this is a problem, and see several solutions:

1) Make an new male image, that looks more powerful. I am not volunteering to do this.

2) Increase the power of the female Elf Archer to 6-4. It would be like 'strong' for archers, something that has been mentioned previously. Maybe the female ones have more natural skill (maybe for the same reason they can't be fighters....)

She does look seriously cool. However, I don't think it's a good idea to give the male and female versions of the same unit different stats. After all, why would the "Elvish Army" hold males and females to different standards?

While I'm not averse to a new image for the male Elvish Archer, I don't think it's particularly vital.

Other: remove female units from game completely. ;)

but, since that won't ever happen...

Other: Decrease powerfulnesslookingness of female elvish archers. I keep confusing them with marksmen, and its not just because they are next to males, i confuse them when only females are on the board...

Agreed.

But if male Fighters were more powerful than females, than the female Archer could be more powerful than the male.

is this another gameplay variable we really want to throw into the mix?

I would be fine with a new image, I would be fine with the same image.

Traits provide enough randomness when i recruit without also having a 'male/female' trait that changes teh unit.

I side withTurin on this, remove the female archers
makes little sense to have two different images for the same unit

But don't we have the same problem with (blue) mages? (I mean the funny hairstyles)?

The female mages do not look powerful, they do not resemble level 2's.

However, I also am against random genders.

I agree, I don't want the chance to get a daughter; I -want- to get a daughter, ditto for son.

Sigh. These are UNITS, not contestants in reality TV. People want two sexes so they can indulge in some sort of stereotyping, from what I've seen so far. Just call them Elvish Archers and put them in hoods so that you can't tell if they're male or female. Or make all elf units very very androgynous so that they can look either male or female depending on your preference.

If you want two kinds of elvish archers, make them the STRONGBOW and the FASTBOW, or something like that. But don't make them male and female because that would probably be sexist or reverse-sexist or something. And that's not an issue for a game of this kind.

Bad enough with the woses.

Yes--- let's make female Woses that go at speed 5 and have 10-2 attacks and 30 HP. Seriously.

I heartily agree with autolycus. Asexual archers would be the best. Hey! That can be the title. ;)
