Ageless Era - Current Version: 4.33

Post by mnewton1 »

Ageless Era is a compilation of the most popular eras and factions on the add-on server. It is more than an era pack than an era.
The current version of the era is in thread title. It is currently being worked for version 1.18 (1.17.26+) of Wesnoth.
The most important thing for anybody to know about Ageless Era is that it is made from eras and factions already published on the add-on server by hardworking authors. If you like any of the eras/factions in Ageless Era, I encourage you to download their original add-ons off of the add-on server.

Pester him if something isn't working

Campaigns
Ageless Era is not compatible with any of the following campaigns, but they were created by the faction and era creators. I highly recommend them. Ageless Era GitHub Link

Thanks! I am going to try to balance the Devlings. To me they always thought they were very unbalanced. But maybe that is just they way I played them.

You should check out the latest release of the EOM. I have felt that for a long time as well and have taken steps to make them play more like normal factions. I'd really appreciate any feedback on them actually. (They are all lvl 1 now except for the Sneak)

Hmm, yes I love this era. Windsong+Agagwaithi=<3

Although it leaves a big hole in my heart where "The Nightmares of Meloen" go.

And a little Mercenaries Era never hurts.

Oh, and one final note, the last time I played the high elves in this era the Sorceress lacked a movetype. (100% defense everywhere, -- movement points everywhere)

Just a curiosity: Many of your maps are named after levels in campaigns. Did you simply lift the maps and play them, or do they just share the same names?

Hello, mnewton1, is me, Juan-...
I think you are doing a great work, continue with it.

One thing i say to you in the server, was about the Leggionaire of the Lavinians, the ranged attack with slow make them hard to kill, 4-2 pierce, for more exactly details...i dont say you get rid of the slow...but at least change it to 8-1 or something, to make more hard to slow an unit.

2.6 Released

Updates:
Sylvans - Fixed Faerie advancing and description error
Elementals - Put Vine Tiger in correct race
Menu Item - New Devling description and tactic suggestions
Races - Added missing races and movement types
Clockwork Dwarves - Attempted Balancing
Lavinian Legion - Changed Legionnaire's ranged attack to 8-1 slows

I think that I might have made the clockwork dwarves a bit to strong. But I did have to computers fight each other. One was Clockworks and the other was the Marauders. The Clockworks barely won, but the marauders recruited 7 scouts in the beginning

I have discovered that the Ageless Era has a problem which has at times afflicted similar eras (All Factions Era, Extended Era) in the past: In some cases, a faction that has been rebalanced for the Ageless Era will prevent that faction from functioning as it was originally designed in the era it came from.

Let me give an example: when the Ageless Era is installed, the Imperial Era Lavinian Legion has the same stats as the Ageless Era Lavinian Legion. However, when the AE is uninstallled, the IE Lavinian Legion gets its original stats back.

Is there a way to fix this?

Use different unit ids than the IE. I would also recommend this for any EE and EOM factions as well.

Example: most EOM unit ids are prefixed with "EOM_". Simply change this to "AE_" and compatibility will never become an issue. :) (but it is annoying to do - though it needs only be done once)
