I believe he's just reading the image the wrong way. The wings should look more believable after shading.

In nature, the wings of the bat are attached to the legs. So the bat can span it's wings by stretching arms and legs.
In this picture the wings are not attached to the legs, so they just hang down.
The bat is a mammal, not a bird. It has not the same kind of wings.

I think that was what Neoskel wanted to say :?:
I don't see any problems with an elf-woman hitting somebody with a mace...

And in nature, trolls can't exist, and yetis are much smaller, and don't have all that muscle. WINR. =P

Honestly, i can live with bats which are slightly unrealistic, given that a bat this size (around the size of a large child, if my view of them is anything to go by) wouldn't stand a chance at flying anyway...

I warned you all that the next person to use that argument would suffer punishment. :P Anyone else?

The sprite looks like that because otherwise it would be unrecognizable, but that doesn't mean the bat itself, as it exists in the fictional World of Wesnoth, has those proportions. I don't see why it's so implausible that there would be a species of bat larger than most found in the real world (what's the largest species of bat on Earth, anyway? I couldn't find anything about it on Wikipedia...).

Also, if you're going by the sprite, the sprite seems to me to have anatomically correct wings (at least more so than what you have here).

If you couldn't tell, I do think this is an issue that needs to be fixed.

That's fair. I'll have a go about fixing it, but it could be complicated - i doubt i'll be able to use those legs at all. WHich isn't too bad, the shading on them isnt brilliant anyway.
