Neo's random monster thread

Post by Neoriceisgood »

Yeah as more scenario's come and the current monsters are kinda forced into certain terrains I started working on random monster graphics; and if enough people think one of the monsters is usefull; I'll fully animate it for use.
the first one is the mud crawler and level 2 crawling dune, these would be extremely fast in desert terrain; not to mention get a sand-ambush making them the worst enemies in sand terrain; but averange everywhere else.

Can I post monsters here too?

Well it's "Neo's" random monster thread, but if you made any monster that doesn't excists from other unit parts ::points to your avatar:: it's okay AFTER the last monster got enough critizm.

looks nice. You are very good at this. Curious to know - what program/platform do you use?

Mostly paint, only paint for that last one...and windows for platform.
anyway here's my latest addition to random monster spawnings the "Fire Guardian" wich is a large strong creature that is animated by a powerfull mage to guard treasures for example, its attacks are all fire and it's totaly unaffected by fire attacks (damage radio 0%) making him evil as opponent in some situations.

The mud monster looks nice. The second one is nice too, but it has something to it that doesn't look Ok. Maybe contrast? Not sure. =(

Here the level 1 one has defence and attack animations now, It wouldn't be a terribly strong monster (unlike the level 2 one) but in sand it'd be VERY hard to hit; and it's normal attack would have slow.

Also made defence and attack animations for the second level, wich is a massive blob of strenght unlike an annoying prick like the first level; it takes alot of exp for them to level and these guys therefore are more functional as leader of the group than as actual threat of one leveling into one.

It kinda looks like it is smiling. I'd rather have it not smile while defending.

Great images, though.

I really like the sand crawlers. I like the graphics and the concepts.
Probably the defense image of the big one needs to be redone, I agree with shundread. Could you have it close its mouth or drop the corners of the mouth when being hit ?
Maybe also the defense of the small one is too similar to the normal image. Possibly, it defends by flattening on the floor ? Just a suggestion.

I do not like the fire guardian, sorry. I did not "see" the flames. At first view, it was more like fur. Like a golem with furry parts, or a baboon with scorched bits.
Now that you say it's a fire guardian, I see your point, but well... It's just one opinion.

Here are two old monsters I had lying around that I made just before I went to italy, I dubbed them to be kobolds wich would most likely fit under roots with the troll race as they are practicaly the same with blue skin (What exactly are kobolds? I didn't bother searching what they actualy where when naming this unit.) and they would be another annoying A.I but worthless player unit, as they do much greater damage than trolls but die much faster; meaning they could kill off certain important units easier than trolls (Especialy if they would be a bit quicker than trolls in caves)
