How can you restore an over-the-network multiplayer game ?

Post by pruneau »

So, say, I'm playing a multi-player game with my wife @ home, the wesnothd server is running on one home computer, and we are using two differents machines to play.
We want to finish this game later, so we save it: how do we restore it in its network state ?
Because yes I can restore the game so we can play in a round-robin fashion on the same machine.
But how can I restore it so both computers can be used.
I tried some command line option of wesnoth, it I did not work.

any help, of I'm chasing after a new feature, or I grossly overlooked something obvious ?

host the game on the server. when selecting the maps, scroll to the top (or bottom, depending on version), select load game. Host it. get the other machine to join the game.

This is how it works in the official server, don't know about yours.

It's exactly the same. Running wesnothd runs a lobby that you can create and join games in, the same as on the official server.

It would also work the same way if you were hosting a game on your client, just without the create game step.
