(hopefully) finished version of the Redhead.

Willing to accept critique.

EDIT - Cleaned-up version. I'm going to bed.

It needs shadows for the skin and highlights for the hair. Also, the eyes could use pupils, and some specular reflection.

Another try of mine. Some hair tweaks and perhaps skin shading.

New version.

Highlights for hair and face, shadows for skin and face.

I know i didn't do the shadow on the right side of the face correctly, so any help with that would be appreciated.

Wala.

JPEG? Why not PNG or other lossless format?

Nice, for a custom druid, unless, of course, Jetryl decides to renew the druid's hairdo.

However, I'm looking forward to modify vonHalenbach version, as it's published as a SVG too, as I'm in need of a hair colour that is not red, nor yellow, nor white; something in middle of that triangle in the RGB color map.

EDIT: Let's not forget that this is not a campaign's art thread.

Looks promising! You know that the background should be black?

It's still an unnatural green. I honestly don't think you'll be able to transition from blonde to a natural green. You may have to transition it through another colour.

I've also just noticed if her hair is turning green at a certain stage of her life, the roots should be green, not the tips. Conceptually (though not artistically) something like the attached.

@BloodIssyl: I do like your latest version (although I like Von Halenbach's final version the most). I preferred the skin tones the other artists used and I think the hair may still be too clumped. Is there any way you can bring out a little more fine detail in the hair using shading or is it locked into the lineart? I do like the choice of hair colour though.

@BloodIssyl: Looks quite good to me. But the first thing, i saw when i looked at your last picture was, that she looks very pale (see, what a different background can do?). The Hair looks ok to me. You don't need to draw every single hair.

Your shadows are inconsistant. You may have two or three different light sources. That is not good.

Her dress could need a little more texture. color variation.

The green of the flowers could need more shading. It looks flat.

If you look at the picture of sandman, you can see a single strand of hair in front of the ear, which you have forgotten to colorize.

BloodIssyl wrote:Highlights for hair
The problem is that hair is a bit unusual material. Because it consists of multitude of tubular objects, it doesn't reflect light as smooth surfaces would. As a rule of thumb, the specular highlight in hair is a band that is perpendicular to the direction of the hair. In you picture it's parallel. The result is that her hair looks like it's molded from plastic.

Slightly better, but now the problem is that the bands are too narrow, and all about the same width. The width should depend on the curvature of the hair: the tighter the curvature, the narrower the band. I strongly suggest that you study pictures of hair, both photographs and drawn, to get the hang of this.

No ! This looks artificial to me. I am no artist, so it is not me who has to say, that this is the wrong way. The other shading of her hair was IMHO much more real and acceptable. :?
