Well, the server ate all the fruits of my hard labour, but it doesn't matter, because here's a brand new version:

Needs more shades of green to help distinguish between the various vines.

Yeah some shading would probably help with the vines, and make it look cooler. 8)

I still submit that you should split the animation into 2 animations. each with half as many vines. One in front of the unit and one behind it (z-index wise). I think this would really convey that the vines have surrounded the unit instead of raised a wall in front of it. As it is now, it looks like it is a plant wall in front of the unit. The two animations wouldn't need to "surround" the unit actually, but just have some plants in front and some in back.

Indeed. Replaced with new version.

The rebound motion in the end is a nice touch. :D

Humm.... I'm new here in the forum and in the game. I downloaded it yesterday and registered today, but whatever >.<

Well whatever, im posting here because I see u have some REALLY good animators and spriters, but it seems that ur only giving attention to the deaths animations. I mean, when u look at those u've made, u'd expect a LOT more with the atacks animations. I dunno if this topic is exclusive for death animations (it doesnt seems to be ^^"""), in fact, i didnt even read anything (more than 50 pages is really too much for me ^^"), but i saw some gifs, and almost all of them were death animations =.="

Now, to make the atacks better, i think they should have, at least, 5 or 6 frames, and u could take off that photoshop effects (in atacks) and make it with pixel art. I saw like 2 atack animations in this topic, and i'd say that they were to "mechanic". It doesnt seem natural, at all. When someone atack, its not just the arm that moves, but the entire body o.o

Humm... ok, i think i should stop here for now ^^""
Sorry if i said something wrong or whatever, but anyways XD
See ya, and good luck o.o/
I've arrived \o.o/

I think everyone's aware of this, there's just nobody doing it.
What's this annoying thing that appears at the bottom of every one of my posts?

Spriting can be fun, but it is work, and everybody here is a volunteer. We can't control who does what, and if people find it fun to make, for example, death animations, but don't find it fun to make attack animations, it's better to have them here making death animations than not doing anything.

I would agree that it would be good to get some better animated units, and the animations are slowly coming along, but - really, I think it's going about as fast as we could hope for. The game already looks amazingly better than it did three years ago.

No, you said a ton of things that I personally endorse. Please do join us, and help out; you seem to be on the right page.

That looks quite nice, but unfortinately, given the configuration of Wesnoth's hexes, he'd never be shooting at an enemy in that direction. I think it would be quite good otherwise, though.
