GLE dude with fixed TC.

The TC was messed up on the original sprite, I believe, because IIRC I did something funny with the formatting before converting it to .png and posting it. But it was nearly a year ago, so I don't recall the exact scenario.

Anway, here it is. :)

Hello Artisticdude! Man, I'm gone for a few weeks and you're an official Art Contributor! Congrats buddy.
I'm finally admitting that this will be a very long (if not permanent) Wesbreak. Thank y'all for the great times, and may Wesnoth rise to become one of the most popular games on the planet.

Thanks Sur.nhm. :)

(I've already acknowledged the rest of the above congrats via PM or IRC, just to make it clear to others that I'm not ignoring them.)

So, um, yeah... instead of working on something I need to be working on, I decided to waste some time and take a shot at designing a generic 'king' unit. So I just kept sketching designs, until I ended up with this hairy little blighter. The facial hair might be (just a bit! :P ) too excessive, but other than that I'm fairly satisfied with it. Linework clean-up and flats to follow soon...

I agree, and its not very king-like. I would expect him to have good posture alias to his arrogance as a king. Move his head to the left a few pixels, and your problem should be resolved.

:) No, you're right. He is leaning over (but then, so was my reference :P ). I was trying to go for a more dynamic pose, since I need to break out of such stiff poses. But I agree with Fog; a kind would have to be far more stiff and regal than an ordinary soldier, so a stiffer posture suits him better than dynamic, over the top pose.

Problem should be resolved below.

EDIT: Man, his legs/feet look small. :hmm:

I suppose, but from my un-artist perspective, it doesn't seem to be much of a problem.

Well, hopefully it'll sort itself out during shading. Else I just make them bigger. :P

 But right now I really should be puting some more work into that quintain's attack animation blocking, so I'll have to shade this regal dude tomorrow.

If you are ever gonna finish that king, my opinion is that he suffers from the same flaw your big-sword-armored-guy from a while back: He holds his sword like it was a light stick or something. Sure, the sword ain't half as massive as the previous one, but still. Also, since it's a King, maybe you could go for a more "decontract" pose, by which I mean, he could lower his sword or something. I think it might feel more natural that way.

It might be that the torso is too big.

You might want to put some of the cloak over his shoulders. If it's only supported by his throat the cloak wouldn't open like that and possibly would choke him.

Realistically, It would be rather hard to do that on account of his rather large shoulder plates. :hmm:

Some progress. Shading on the cloak + legs is still pretty rough, but it's only there to give me an idea of how it will work with the armor. I'm probably going to put some armor on his legs and feet eventually, rather than having them unarmored.
