Merfolk never had big role in The South Guard (thing to improve) but I much more liked how they were in old version than here. Despite of being undeveloped they had some interesting points.
On the finale of the bandit path there was at least a big bunch of water where they had a role in fighting, and a fair amount of swamp. You had to struggle a bit to get netcasters, but they had some utility
