Re: Scenario Review: SoF 2 - Closing the Gates
(1) What difficulty level and version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on? Difficult 1.18.4
(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 10
(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives? Clear
(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario? Good
(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?
I'm not sure it's possible to beat this without alot of luck. Both the north and south trolls are placed in tight bottlenecks that make it impossible to push through them before the elves arrive. Once the elves are in the outer glyph rooms, the scenario is lost, as they then take 3v1 chokes that can't be broken. Konrad2's successful replay a few replies up shows that it could be done if the trolls randomly engage the elves in a favourable way, but I can't seem to reproduce that behaviour.
Edit: with luck, and some advice from Konrad2, I beat this. The key to the south trolls is to use Rugnur to lure one of them out on Turn 1, which makes it much easier to push through the next 2 in the choke. I tried to do the same with the north trolls, but they just wouldn't come out without me going in to attack them. I beat the elves inside the glyph room with alot of luck.
(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10) 2, too RNG dependent, and strongly depends on the AI behaviour on when they send elves north.
(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun? Widen the corridors, and place the elves further from the south entrance (or both).
(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario? See above
