(ELE - Horned Skeletons) Skeletal Guard (and Fortress) have a weak "bone javelin" attack
Which somehow marked as melee.

Fine, this will be fixed for the next release.

I always belived it was intentional the unit had no ranged attack, but viewing the names and description, it was not the case.

Yo, been real long since the last post I've made in ageless forum topic, just wanted to add some few things that got changed due I got things to do the previous weeks which decreased my developing time activities.

Few things got changed in planifcation for 4.37 , but will explain all that short.

1) AE - Great Wars will be postponed for 4.38 (again) , but at this next release will become TOP priority.
What's exactly Ageless Great Wars?

Exactly, a version of the era with several or few decens of factions that contains 3 to 6 factions all combined in one, all sharing a specific thematic (for example ELE fallen + Arcahic's Despair + Archaic's Phantom + few ghosts from some other factions, being all of them lost souls)

This brings up an old something that wesnoth's default had, and it was "great wars" era that combined 2 factions of 3 (loy + rebel + knalga VS drakes + northerners + undead) , but in Agelless, which also would pump significantly the World Conquest II gameplay because this would make the game much richer without the need of any other mods than just Ageless)


2) Added a lot of more balance changes, and some few new units for factions that had leaks/missing content to be viable or that used to be so MID.

But in short, those are just stats adjustments or fairness, except for 2 factions
- AE Dark Legion, some stats increases in units, as well their Heavy Infantry got a secondary attack with specials (Stun or Knockback at lv+2)
- AE Frozen REVAMP in (Lv2-Lv3 Archers , Lv2-Lv3 spearmen , Frost Witch having new slowing ranged attack in lv3 and more ranged damage, and few more things!).
All in more details in the balance changelog.

Letting know that the update will be bit before end of year, and it will contain like twice more content than originally planned because of the lot of extra time. Minor balance changes and some scope at specific things will be done in addition of previously mentioned. And one new faction and few new units (even some few more) for already existing factions.

And got a time to look carefully at deep elves to avoid them having a ton of specials, and probably some slight HP buffs in few units in that faction is planned (probably, as well of increased XP costs in exchange).

Apart of the previous mentioned, I have not got any idea what else to do... I could mind to start working at AE - Great Wars which would be a big hit for WC II players and also a good addition for multiple scenarios or custom modes.

Hopefully with this update, Ageless could be polished enough to be in a more stable situation which there will not be need to bombard with a lot of balance changes and being more stable and reliable enough for MP scenarios and survivals (while, I doubt for campaigns... because that needs a lot more polishing to be at that point)

And with this , if I'm correct all C tier (mid) factions and in overall units, would be wiped into at least a B tier being a viable option as long as you know what you're doing and not being punished too hard if having bad RNG with recruits in randomly generated recruit lists.

The EOMA factions seem bugged in RPG. They display question marks instead of units.

Btw, just mentioning that I'm about to release the first version of Ageless_Great_Wars as one new playable era inside Ageless. For those who did not hae any idea what's it, well, it's basically an Ageless and bigger version of Default's Great Wars. This includes groups of bigger factions with units that thematically are simlar between them and having a notably bigger recruit list, but not including the whole ageless. The idea is to bring some more fun at some game modes as randomly generated maps like WC II and allowing more gamemodes that usually standard ageless or ageless union would not fit as fun.

THE FIRST RELEASE OF AGELESS GREAT WARS will include a total of 14 factions, each more detailed
Units in each faction are subjet to change between releases (which means, some could be added or removed).

For example, some factions have EOMA units, but not the whole list from that EOMA faction.... because that would lead it to have a notable advantage over some other factions that don't have EOMA units in the recruit list.

1) Blood Moon Ritualist: All dark elves in overall (Tharis, Deep Elves, RE's Dark Elves, EE Dark elves, some other units).
2) Lost Souls: EE Fallens, Archaic's Despair & Phantoms, BEEM Anakes
3) Vallhalla's Glory: Viking inspired faction, containing nordic units, lightning callers and more.
4) Exotic Tribes: All natives and indigenous people in Ageless (Pygmies, Tribalists, Natives, few more)
5) Wisdom Keepers: Most of Sky Kingdom army, Altaris, Windsongs and few more.
6) Eclipse Cult: In overall pirates, Swimmers, sea monsters and absolute control of TOD auras.
7) Majestic Alliance: All elves of light (High Elves, Rebels, Elyser, etc)
8 ) The Grand Dwarven Kingdom: Warrirors of might, strongest melee of all dwaren factions, containing gryphon riders, bear riders, etc and moderate tech and magical units.
9) The Mythical Runesmiths: A more heavy rune magic variation of the dwarven faction, less tech and no bear riders and less heavier gryphon riders variations.
10) Orc Supremacy: A faction containing ALL orcs and some their fellow friends
11) Drake Rulers: Contains all drakes, and some their cold-blooded allies as well (incluiding lv1 EOMA salamanders) BUT not their toads or wyvern riders (probably could of change of mind later.... but my idea is to later give a more saurian based faction...)
12) Cult of the Dead: All defaultish undeads, all spirits, ELE's horned skeletons and more!
13) Armies of Freedom: Human army variation with both loyalist and outlaw units, some Regis units and few more options. Do not have default's mages or heavy magic, but they got plenty of good rangers and better terrain control than normal loy army and still great melee fighters (They still have heal+10 lv3 outlaw witches).
14) Elemental Wrath: A faction containing plenty of options with fire/water/air/earth elementals and some elementalist units including EOMA Al-kamija and Sky Kingdom's Elementalist, EOC/EOM summoners and few more additions.


More planned factions for a next release:
- Steampunk alliance: Contains steam vapor (IE clock-work dwares & runemasters heavy machines) and units that at this momment in Ageless doesn't exist, waiting the release of this new faction in AE to work at Steampunk Alliance.
- Empire of Loyalty: Loyalists in their most pure essence, this variation focuses more in the art of war and less in terrain adaptability. Even less magic than Armies of Freedom but will have some herbalists as healers.
- Satan's Minions: Devils and daemons all combined in one faction.
And some other factions that are planned to be released later in Ageless Great wars.


And as said, some factions contains SOME EOMA units but not including the whole recruit-list, and that factions are subject to get new units or some units removed at a later release in ageless.

At later versions all factions will have better recruitment patterns so AI can use them better in WC II like maps, but they will have a basic recruit pattern that will at least not do terrible.

Btw, just advising that AE update been postponed for 2 weeks, as Ravana is testing the EOMA release and viewing if he finds an error or something.

Aditionally, I've heard that during this winter someone could been updating his two new factions to Ageless, but I'm not clearly sure if it will be in time before this release or not, as well as not giving any information about them because I only know their names... but best we can do is waiting.

Probably because of the small delay, I could be minding adding some few more factions to Ageless Great Wars as well of some quick small rebalances (and a lv3 unit for meganerie's scout robot). Additionally we will be adding the Harpy Faction to Ageless this release (author aproved them being added to Ageless when asked) while in Ageless they will have some slight changs (like 60% at hills, 10% more arcane resistance, so they can become a viable faction in PVE maps as WC II and better QOL at afterlife) but for units modified slightly bigger XP demands (specially higher XP demand for lv3). I took a wesbreak probably too long, and 4.37 got released. Just wanted to mention that few changes are not as listed in changelog at master or at cbalance changelog 4.37 because I didn't upload in time (99.50% of the changes ARE like that file, but not for 2 or 3 units the most lol).

So this is the final balance changelog and the true one.

And even if some few things didn't got release in time, I will still be active at multiplayer lobbies in 1.18 in soon, so it's way easier to spot things that are not right about balancing or things that could probably go better.


And talking about lv1 that in great wars are now recruitable but not normally (like EOMA's Air elemental), there will be slighty changes for their prices in 4.38 to be sure they suit a more fair gameplay (almost all great wars factions do have mages... but still unfair adantage at survivals...)


Additionally,, 4.38 will not be a massive balance overwhelm like 4.37 was, but the idea is to do most of the PENDING changes as well of doing something new (and ofc, more great wars factions in soon!)

Is it a bug that 2 lvl unit can lvlup in to 4 lvl unit without 3 lvl between it? Or maybe its on purpose?

That jump is intentional , stats/XP like is intended, it was just to fit their opposing faction Altaris it's the only thing I did know, blood elves and altaris are rivals, the rest of other Forgotten Legends era have no lore at alls (from what I could see in forum topic of era creators) , excluding the fun description I made to pirates and natives and if you ask me , sprite is not like a lv3 and looks more to lv4

Maybe if I find a spriter or artist could ask him for lv3 blood elf pyromancer, but that would been an add of an art that would not be official

Been a while since the last time I posted something or done any developing in ageless topic, thing is that we're back soon from my afk at other games.


First thing I want to mention is that I've finally got part of wesnoth's balance team, so officially I'm brinding feedback or ideas to default environment too! hopefully helping as well at making default better.


Second thing, this is regards to ageless, I've got a list of things in which I planned to work in some time soon, but that are canon that will occur
1) MAX lv0-lv2 balancing, cause some ma lv1-lv2 units are just terrible, and they need more unique features. Additionally decreasing the AMLA cost to many max 2 so they can at least do something better than these stronger units on their same level but that also did have lv3.
2) Add pending and mentioned changes that I couldn't apply for 4.37, not gonna mention the ones that didn't got added, but that's one of highest priority.
3) Polish even more the newly introduced AoA factions, I'm still not convniced about some specific stats too (few overpowered or underpowered) , same with some messed up with few units in FL factions as well (not gonna be specific in this forum , but SOME are already on the scope)

4.38 will not be another massive wave or rebalance like 4.37 (which had like 2 releases content in balancing in just ONE update, because of being delayed a lot).


Lastly, it is quite hard to do everything related to balance with almost no feedback or coment, as it is taking as long as I can manually find the balance issues in over thousands of units in specific.... but notable cases of OP and underpowered are more easily spotted than hidden and more discrete overpowereds.... just cause of popularity on their usage and other factors that requires more skill to spot, being the main reason why I do not mention these units that will get patched until the job was alr done.

I think this guy should have hatchet set as ranged weapon, not as melee as its now.
