Re: The Archive of HODOR
They are many little mistakes, but I won't talk about these...
They're 2 big problems I see :
- At turn 17 you recruit after some turns away from keep... You have 181 gold... With upkeep that's 10 footpads, try to understand how good it would be +10 footpads instead of one strong backstabb in that situation.
- You play Young David, but you try to kill... When you're not vs UD, you don't really want to kill, but to take vills. For example your positions are too defensive, you form zoc lines so that your guys can't be attacked from more than 2 slots, but the problem is that the ennemy can easily block you then. If your units are a bit everywhere on the map, he will maybe have one kill, but he won't keep his vills. If you look at my brother's replay (The one before yours.), you'll see that he only tried to really kill when ctk were high, or at the end, where he had an income good enough to have nearly unlimited footpads. Also, you regrouped units at turn 4 (I think ), to the right side, but you should have kept at last one unit in the left side, because he needed at least 2 units to counter it. What you have to do is to overwhelm the ennemy, not just kill it. (That is with young david, if you have thieves, you can make both,)

Re: The Archive of HODOR
Trying to get it better, this one was vs a good ladder player (Aragorn). It doesn't stop to surprise me how even good and experienced players get destabilized by HODOR, especially the tendancy to expose leader. So Aragorn's orcs vs hodor on weldyn, 9 turns. Enjoy.

And another one, versus a veteran. Orcs vs hodor on howling ghost badlands, with a good RNG for me. Again, comments on mistakes and so forth are more than welcome, PM or forum.

i liked the first one better where aragon was surprised by this great blocking move where u could recruit in his keep the next turn, that was a very good move. seeing all those footies slaughtered i really wanna play u right now. arent u online?

Rigor wanted to pawn footies, and so did he
. Factions chosen, and a special HODOR-counter loyalist force pawn poor innocent HODOR. No much surprise here, but a funny game. Posted on behalf of Rigor.

Another ladder player falls under the rocks/arrows/backstab of HODOR. Caves of the Basilik, Rebels vs HODOR, 12 turns.

Re: The Archive of HODOR
This is probably not as good as my brother replay but here's two games against an opponent where I said I will recruit mainly footpads.
Both won - One vs Ud and the other vs Dwarves.
Young david (me) Ud - Had a ctk at 5-6th turn. ended a bit later.
Young David (he) and later all other dwarves vs Young David (me) and after he recruited other things some bersekers. (Even if both young david playstyle was really different).
The last one was fun at start, and I must say this guy risks much. Later I didn't played so well (That's why he was able to recruit and last for 10 more turns) but was also fun.

Re: The Archive of HODOR
My first attempt at strict hodorism, unfortunately failed (missclicked on gryphon while recruiting and couldn't undo it because of the fog of war), but it's a win nevertheless!

Re: The Archive of HODOR
HODOR has been playing ladder again recently, so maybe we'll see some more activity in this thread
I don't think you can ever undo recruits, because of random traits. If you could, you could just keep undoing and redoing every recruit until you got the traits you wanted. Recruit with care!

Actually, you can undo recruit for units without random traits, like undead.Caphriel wrote:I don't think you can ever undo recruits, because of random traits. If you could, you could just keep undoing and redoing every recruit until you got the traits you wanted. Recruit with care!
In general, you can't undo moves if they give you new information.
Re: The Archive of HODOR
Doh! I didn't think of that.

Re: The Archive of HODOR
So, I've been reading many brags by HODORists and I'd like to challenge one. Anybody care to pick up my gauntlet?

Re: The Archive of HODOR
Sure, we'll have to arrange a time, though. If you beat me, you can challenge the senior HODOR players and work your way up
