I prefer the first one : it adds a nice embellishment, without detriment to readability. The other two both have translucent overlays which make things (text in #2, the other picture in #3) harder to see properly.
One of the great things about Wesnoth is that it's done a great job of adding shine and sparkle without decreasing accessibility. #1 is a good step in that direction, IMO.

Well, you see it in the game.tomsik wrote:i have one thing agnist 1#(left one), you dont see how unit looks.
When I think about it, I prefer the first one. Nicholas proposition was very...strange.

I think that it is a great idea that should be included at 1.0 version, if it is possibleLugo Moll wrote:Hello.
I just thought that, if techincally ossible, the unit portraits should be shown above the unit statistics when selected. You know where you now see a small picture of the unit itself.

There will have to be a lot of art work to make all the portraits, but it's worth it. But because of the amount of work that is needed, I don't think it could be added for version 1.

Ah! I see my old proposition has been revived. I just invented a new acronym; ROTIG (Reviving Old Threads Is Good
).
I think showing the portrait is worth the sacrifice of the small unit picture. It's not that essential.
All I say is it's a bit of a waste having these portrait for just using them in the help screen and some campain dialogs...

That depends on how many campaign dialogues you have each scenario.Lugo Moll wrote: All I say is it's a bit of a waste having these portrait for just using them in the help screen and some campain dialogs...

Having the protrait in the background of the unit stats looks cool, but I worry that some portraits would make it harder to read the unit stats.

My idea is to have the portraits showed when you mouse over the unit picture or name in the side bar. Kind of like how the resistances and description are shown.quartex wrote:Having the protrait in the background of the unit stats looks cool, but I worry that some portraits would make it harder to read the unit stats.

If we're just simply dying to use the portraits somewhere, they could be included in the (enlarged) attack dialog box. But then we'd also have to make sure that all portraits are looking in the same direction.
I think adding it behind the stats on the bar would just make things cluttered.

Feel free to PM me if you start a new terrain oriented thread. It's easy for me to miss them among all the other art threads.
