A New Land Beyond Era

Post by howwitty »

Recently Bob made a new spin on A New Land which used generated terrain extensively. I'm currently hovering around 95% CPU on turn 30 with just a small 30 unit army. Now I realize the number of units was not causing Wesnoth to overclock my little Lenovo.

Memory consumption is about the same as other maps, including the scrolling survival scenario with generated terrain. Has anyone else tried A New Land Beyond or could it perhaps be related to this issue: viewtopic.php?p=702081&hilit=Beyond#p702081?
I'm tired.

interesting I have played with it, just curious how much ram, low ram could be the cause.. if bare min ram than who knows, if more than that than that issue is really interesting. with all the things computers now days do I tell people Dont get under 12 giga bytes of ram. I also have told places that sell computers dont do the same. in my opinion 12 should be the standard.

12GB will never be the standard though, its 16GB then

Edit:
as i think about it, ... wasnt 16 GB not standard anways in gaming for the last decade(s)?

shifting to 32 GB, if that didnt happen already.
(even i changed to 32GB 2 years ago i think)

how come that we talk about 12GB ?

you got me, it really depend how hard core of a gamer people are, I dont play most games, that is why I say 12GB. It all depends what people want to do with their devices.

i think because he referred to notebook/laptops.

my point was:
for a normal desktop you wont get 6GB ram sticks, and also you would not want to use 8/4 combination or 3x4 because of weak performance
so 12 GB is not a thing except for laptops
