Free Passage through Drake Territory?
I'm playing through the new version of Legend of Wesmere, and can't help but wonder, where are the Drakes? Aquagar doesn't have an alliance with them anymore it would seem, but with Winds of Fate mainline, the elves are marching right through what by all rights is drakish territory? I guess I haven't made a campaign vs campaign map comparison, but in the years after Winds of Fate, I envision the drakes expanding through a lot of the Heart Mountain region, they're a fast moving species after all.
Secrets of the Ancients has the exact same question, why don't Drakes attack the undead?
It may well be a matter of "because it wasn't written that way", but I wonder is there any sort of canon reason this is? Not that I'd demand people change their campaigns, but it seems the drakes are glaringly absent (and neither campaign has a single drake scenario, so they'd add some variety anyway). Maybe they aren't eating these trespassers (undead wouldn't be too satisfying anyway), but that doesn't mean they'd let them through unmolested.

My impression is that, at this point in history, the population of drakes is very small and they are rarely encountered by other races.
I've always envisioned it differently - that the drakes have very little role to play in events of this time period. There wouldn't really be any such thing as "drakish territory" - at least it wouldn't be recognized as such by people of other races, who might not even be convinced that drakes exist at all, considering them to be semi-mythical creatures.redbeard2 wrote: ↑January 19th, 2026, 1:24 am Aquagar doesn't have an alliance with them anymore it would seem, but with Winds of Fate mainline, the elves are marching right through what by all rights is drakish territory? Well, there have been a lot of changes to mainline campaigns recently, so I'm not really sure what the current canon is considered to be at this point. Personally, I wouldn't consider it impossible to have a drake scenario (indeed, the old version of Legend of Wesmere has one), but I wouldn't expect drakes to have a prominent role in the story, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are entirely absent.redbeard2 wrote: ↑January 19th, 2026, 1:24 am It may well be a matter of "because it wasn't written that way", but I wonder is there any sort of canon reason this is?
