When trying to download any add-on from the corresponding menu, an error occurs.
What to do?

I don't know why it's not working, but you can also download add-ons from here (you will have to install them manually):

I remember getting something like this but only on Windows 7. Perhaps not the same issue though.

Clutching at straws here, but anything in the logs?
Can launch Wesnoth with additional error reporting (never used it but remember seeing this advice).
Personally I'd leave it awhile then try again, it might be a transient issue?
