UtBS - Opinions on Units and Upgrades

Post by fredbobsmith2 »

I've played this campaign a few times and was wondering what people think about the various options available to them in terms of units and unit upgrades. For instance:

The walkthrough suggests that Tauroch Vanguards are better than Stalwarts. Typically though I use Tauroch units as defensive units for holding a position that my other units can't, and so the steadfast ability seems alot more useful than shock (which is a reasonably good offensive ability) or leadership (which is good but Kaleh already has it).

I'm very unsure about Nym's upgrade line, as I usually go:
Herbalism (for early healing on S1 and utility on S2)
Bolas+slow (to fight skeletons), bolaship (when available)
Sword training, faster strikes, accurate strikes
Endurance training, footwork
Sword dance (very good DPS)
Bow training, quickdraw, ranger (usually just in time for fighting horse units)
The idea here is to adapt for the upcoming scenarios and keep My as a frontline fighter, but the walkthrough and other replays suggest arrow rain might be better, which would lead to her being used much less aggressively

Quick fighters become warriors, non-quick becomes flankers; I assume everyone does the same.

Kaleh:
Strength, sword, bola+slow (for skeletons)
Stamina, endurance, bow -> inspiring (best ability)
Piercing shot, stronger grip (best DPS for him)
Strong strikes, Bowman (if possible)

I also don't know if sometimes I overemphasize exp for my heroes, since they do get VERY expensive over the course of the campaign
