I still don't understand why his left hand is completely unprotected below the elbow, without so much as a glove. In close combat, this is basically an invitation to chop that hand off (or bludgeon it with a mace, or pinch it with a shield edge...)

By the way, the captain has a glove on his right hand, but not on his left.

You have guessed right, I have next to no graphic skills. However, one does not need to be a chicken in order to judge the quality of eggs.

I've always wanted to say that! :) I was waiting for someone to make a bad comment about the artwork so I could say that, but... that's not gonna happen... so I had to use yours. :)

You're right about that - I'm also terrible at doing this... :? I for one don't care about such details - the portraits are awesome! :D

I don't know much about drawing, so I'd rather stay out of it, just this much: Lord Bob has raised the quality of Wesnoth portraits to a whole new level. I've seen horrible portraits in some add-ons, or if I think back to the beginning of this game, in mainline campaigns as well. What I'm trying to say is that some of the comments here are a bit overly nit-picky. Luxury problems. I understand that it's not nice if the artist doesn't get any feedback, that's not nice either, but the criticism should be constructive and appropriate, and not get stuck on irrelevant little things. I for example like it when a portrait is different, different from the norm, not just like all the others. If the finger position is unusual, then I find that charmingly and special, that doesn't have to be a flaw, on the contrary, it makes the portrait unique. Thank you Lord Bob, I love your portraits. Your portraits have made Wesnoth much better.

I agree that the overall quality of art is very good. However, there are some small details that just don't make sense, and I think it is worth pointing them out precisely because the quality is good in general. Had it been on the level of those add-ons, I wouldn't have bothered.
