Re: Scenario 21: Clash at the Manor
(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on?
Version 1.18.4, Biased RNG (experimental), difficulty Great Mage (Difficult) ( = hard)
(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)
7
(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?
Very clear.
(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?
It's quite ambiguous what "find the secret door" exactly means. Entirely unclear is that this big black blob on the map shall depict a manor.
Dialog idea to fix the ambiguity:
Delfador now just says "Now we must look for the book." Instead, let him say: "Now we must look for the book. It's somewhere inside the manor. We have to inspect every inch of the manor's perimeter to find its entrance."
Ideas to fix the black blob:
Biggest challenge was to find out what the "manor" is and what exactly "find the secret door" means. Solution: "manor" is that big black blob on the map and finding its entrance means, step on every single field of it's parameter. Don't do single 5-field movements, but 5 1-field movements. Both can be done in a single turn.
Other that that, no major challenges. Just don't forget to race for these two bridges in the first two turns with at least two units each, to not miss these two riders. If you can't kill them in one turn, remember that one can "arrest" an enemy unit by placing two own units on opposite sides of it.
Then pull back to one of the forests. Enemies will follow, to their disadvantage.
(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)
7
Because that "finding door" thing pretty much requires googling.
(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?
See (4) above.
(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario?
No.

Ideas to fix the black blob:
- Put a describing label on it. Other scenarios have labels for decoration. Here it's crucial, but missing.
- Put a couple of houses into the middle of this black blob, to give the impression of a manor.
- Put a row of mountains around its perimeter, to make it impenetrable.
- Fill remaining space with tiles, pebbles or other dry ground.
