Campaign completion not shared between Steam Deck / Steam on MacOS

Post by fmaiabatista »

(this has also been posted on Wesnoth's subreddit - mods please let me know if I should remove one or the other)

Hi all,

Is there a way I can sync my campaign completion data between the Steam Deck and Steam on MacOS?

I have completed a few on each but I can't see them on the other device, only on the one I played it.

Steam Cloud seems to be working fine. I get notifications that it's out of sync if I have played on one device and not given enough time for it to sync on the other.

On all devices the game version is 1.18.3 x86_64

"Running on" info is:
Steam on MacOS: macOS 14.6.1 x86_64
Steam Deck (both "game" and "desktop" modes): Steam Runtime 3 (sniper) x86_64

Below you can see I have completed "Battle Training" and "A Tale of Two Brothers" on the Deck, and "The South Guard" on the Mac... but the completion is not synced:

Thanks!

Solved!

The "completed campaign" data is stored in the preferences file and I was able to manually edit them on my Steam Deck to match the campaign I had completed on the MacOS version.

For now, there's no synchronisation of the preferences file, just saved games for the moment. https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/issues/4163

Tere's been some work towards this goal in 1.19, with restructuring of the user data. https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/issues/8059
