You described it accurately. I was thinking about it in the case of something like SotA where there is one loyal saurian in the campaign. You might find it very unlucky if that one turned out orange. If you have another option that lets you exempt loyal saurians from the rule, that would do pretty much the same thing.
Not really. You use an [options] tag in the modification, and a screen with checkboxes, sliders, or whatever gets shown before the campaign begins.

This has already been attempted with no pushback I'm aware of: drake burners are tan instead of green, mermaid enchantresses are greener than other merfolk, and dunefolk riders are quite dark. It would be nice to make those variations apply to all the units of a race instead of being restricted to specific unit types.
There is also the rare case of a darker skinned (if that is political correct, I am not sure, sorry

I got a addon ready with those features:
- Random Green Recruits
- Morph with unusual colors
- Choose saurians that are exempt from the rule (loyal)
- Specify at the beginning the used colors

Using the word "morph" here is probably just confusing things. It's probably my fault since did use it once, but that's because it is the real, scientific word for an animal with a specific coloration. It is only a noun with this meaning. Using "morph" as a verb suggests that the creature is changing into something else, so I would use a different word for that option.

This mod is cool, I proposed something similar time ago.
Why not making it also for humanoids ?
Human skinn can range from very fair to very dark, would be nice if they would be a bit different instead of so homogenous.

If the add-on supports humans at some point, being able to recolor the loyalist/HI/etc. armor would be great

About dwarves, I planned only beard colorisation.
For Elves maybe only hair too.

Don't know if that will work well with armour.
If you talking about a color picker, that is not yet part of my plan. I guess, if UCV is finished, I can intergrate that in a color picker addon.
