v1.17.13 + Windows 7 + Eastern Invasion Revised
Hi,
Display issues with playing Eastern Invasion Revised (EIR) by Dalas on v1.17.13 using Windows 7.
Also loads of messages in log.
Doesn't seem to be an issue with HttT but the messages say please report hence this post.
Had a brief tryout on Windows 10 and it seemed much more stable.
Also Windows 7 doesn't display the add-on side panel (on the right of the add-on list) whereas Windows 10 does (but maybe I did something?).
Example screen grab of display issue: Version info:
Display driver:
Log:
Will confirm that Windows 10 is OK later, just realised there's an update to EIR (2.2.12, updated) so will test that in due course.
Meanwhile if here's anything else you need please let me know.
Also need to check a few other mainline campaigns on Windows 7 just in case.
Cheers!

Could you provide the steps you do to reproduce the issue? Also a save file would be useful.

This looks like a very serious issue, It'd be intereting to know when exactly the screenshot was taken, was it before that dialog was closed or after (are the holes in the middle wrong or are the remainders of the dialog wrong), and in the later case, how did you close that dialog?
Also did you change any of the wesnoth settings, and if yes which?

Scenario with Robots SP scenario (1.11/1.12), allows you to build your units with components, PYR No preperation turn 1.12 mp-mod that allows you to select your units immideately after the game begins.

Re: v1.17.13 + Windows 7 + Eastern Invasion Revised
Well, there are multiple issues and all seem interface related.Pentarctagon wrote: ↑March 19th, 2023, 5:18 pm Could you provide the steps you do to reproduce the issue? Also a save file would be useful.
Fire up v17 on windows 7 and do something, you'll encounter weirdness almost everywhere.
I have briefly tested Eastern Invasion revised (EIR) on Windows 10 and whilst better there are still interface niggles but these could be from the UMC itself, not had time to chase these down yet. Also not yet had chance to run other stuff on v17/Win10 but will do so when I get chance.
Regarding windows 7 here are some screen niggles from mainline/utility screens:
Attack animations seem problematic (and attack dialogue in EIR). E.g. Delfador's Memoirs.
Screen messes up when an attack animation "spills over" the menu area as below in following 2 screen grabs.
The menu is also nuked where the animation extends into the menu.
The animation finishes (sound, movement etc.) but these leftover effects do not disappear; these two screens stayed like that until a unit moves around the area there or something else redraws the affected screen region. Scrolling so that the action occurs lower down results in normal behaviour. Also attacks that do not encroach onto the menu bar are OK: There are other transient interface issues that occur during transitions from one screen to another (e.g. starting a campaign from main menu) and sometimes during gameplay but it is difficult to screen grab them. I could send a vidclip if anyone can recommend a decent freeware video cutter for Windows 7 (there are loads out there but I don't know which are any good).
Not been able to get much detail yet but there are display elements (menu items, buttons etc.) that don't look like they belong?
These appear when the first screen is still displayed (e.g. main menu) but is transitioning to another screen.
I suspect these elements belong to the next (not-yet-displayed) screen and reflect the system assembling the layout prior to display?
But, as I say, not had chance to delve into this much yet.
Here are a couple of other things I thought might be issues (or not):
Add-ons screen - in Win10 there is a panel on the right that summarises the currently highlighted add-on.
Cannot change screen resolution (same as V16 so probably a non-issue?) the resolution works fine for me but I thought I'd point it out just in case. As I say, on my PC at least, doing almost anything on v17 swiftly produces display glitches.
Save files to follow.
Final note: the engine seems to think everything is OK because there's nothing unusual in the logs.
Hope this helps,
cheers!

Re: v1.17.13 + Windows 7 + Eastern Invasion Revised *EDIT*
The garbling occurred when the attack animation started although the game wasn't happy prior to that and some blockiness was visible.gfgtdf wrote: ↑March 19th, 2023, 6:47 pm This looks like a very serious issue, It'd be intereting to know when exactly the screenshot was taken, was it before that dialog was closed or after (are the holes in the middle wrong or are the remainders of the dialog wrong), and in the later case, how did you close that dialog?

I.e. the dialogue remainders are wrong.
However the mainline campaigns had far less issues if that helps.
E.g. attack dialogue OK in Delfador's Memoirs (i.e. it went away prior to attack animation starting). No (deliberate) changes to settings.
Two saves.
This one is immediately before attack:
DM-This Valley Belongs to Me Turn 1.gz
It would help if I attached the correct savefile And after: The saves seem fine and display is as expected even if the game was saved when the screen was garbled.
Anyway, hope they help.
Cheers!
