Portuguese (Brazil) Translation

Post by caranha »

Hello everyone,

My name is Claus, and gave very minor random contributions to wesnoth a long long time ago (some units descs around 0.4.x). I'm interested in putting the pt-br translation a little bit more up to date. According to the wiki page it seems to be idle right now, but I wanted to make sure no one is working on it before starting. :-)

We've had no news from portuguese translators for a long time, so you're most welcome to take over it. :)

Consider it taken then.

Here is a preeliminary, partial wesnoth.po. Is there an easier way to do it instead of posting it here?

Ok, committing to cvs. Welcome to the race! :)

Definitely: mail. By the way, could you try to use the utf-8 encoding instead of iso-8859 ?

Race: Woohoo, not last place anymore! :-P

Mail: Understood :-)

UTF-8: ooops... well, I tried setting the Language Envirionment in Emacs to UTF 8, but it seems to keep saving the file as ISO-8859 nonetheless... :-/ Would anyone be kind enough to tell me how do I save a file with a different enconding, please? (I'm using sid and emacs 21.3.1)

Hello Monkey.

If you have better ideas for the translation, feel free to join the translation team. Actually, it's just me and Sergio working on it, and we have been quite busy these last months, so the translation effort has been a little slow. We can use any help you can offer.

So grab a PO from the CVS, and start translating away. Send me your work, I'll review it and forward to the developers gladly.

If you'd just like to suggest better unit names, feel free to do so also... either here or through PM. However, remember we have many "rogue" units: footpad, rogue, thief, thug, trapper, outlaw. Try fiding names for each and every one of them that keep the overall theme.

Regards,
Claus

(vamos falar português)
Eu to traduzindo a campanha "Liberdade".
